摘要： A liquid applicator is provided which is particularly useful in applying preoperative surgical scrubs or paints to skin. The article is provided with an inner layer of flexible porous material and an outer layer of open cell foam sponge material. The flexible, porous layer regulates the flow of liquid therethrough to provide acceptable wetting of the foam sponge while preventing dripping therefrom. The applicator includes a means of maintaining atmospheric pressure within the applicator while the liquid is being dispersed.

摘要： The present invention relates to an improved applicator designed for the application of anesthetic fluids such as phenol as well as other fluid medicants to the tympanic membrane. The applicator comprises an articulating member with a finger gripping zone adjacent the proximal end thereof, and an angularly disposed fluid retaining applicator pad secured to the distal end thereof. The distal end is provided with a cylindrical fluid retaining applicator pad attached to the cross-sectional surface of the tip, with the outer diameter of the pad being generally equivalent to that of the articulating member. The fluid retaining applicator pad permits painless application of an anesthetizing fluids such as phenol to the tympanic membrane, with excellent positioning control being made possible by the finger gripping portion of the articulating member.

摘要： An applicator is provided for use in placing skin products on a person's body, particularly the recessed areas of the back. The applicator comprises an elongated rectangular strip of flexible material having finger holes at each end. One side of the strip has a non-absorbent, thinner layer of lesser elasticity to which lotion or the like is applied. The other side is a thicker layer of greater elasticity, laminated to the thinner layer. The elasticities are such that when the strip is tensioned, the strip will bulge so that the lotion-receiving layer will contact a recessed area of the body.

The absorbent pads are closely stacked within the container, and generally comprise an absorbent pad portion with a flexible film backing which is resistant to permeation of the vaporizable material therethrough, and a collapsible tab- or ring-like structure joined to the backing opposite the absorbent pad portion. In other embodiments, the absorbent pad portion is preferably sub-divided into sub-portions having different fluid absorbing characteristics, which sub-portions are separated by the same flexible film as used in the backing, and less than all of the sub-portions are initially prewetted with the vaporizable material or are prewetted with different materials.

摘要： A scrub sponge comprising, a packet having a rupturable wall and a closed chamber containing a liquid scrub agent, and a cover of foam material having a cavity to receive the packet and enclosing the packet. The sponge has a puncture member intermediate the cover and the packet and having a pair of generally aligned and spaced arms on opposed sides of the packet beneath the cover, and hinge means connecting the arms adjacent one end of the packet. The puncture member has at least one sharp projection on one of the arms directed toward the packet to pierce the wall when the arms are pressed toward each other to release the scrub agent into the cover, and an opening extending through the one arm adjacent the projection.
