    摘要: A coated cutting insert includes a substrate that is either a ceramic substrate or polycrystalline cubic boron nitride-containing substrate and has a substrate surface. A base coating scheme is applied by chemical vapor deposition to the substrate surface wherein the base coating scheme includes the following coating layers: an inner coating layer adjacent to the substrate surface wherein the inner coating layer is a nitride selected from the group consisting of titanium nitride, zirconium nitride and hafnium nitride; an inner mediate coating layer deposited to the inner coating layer wherein the inner mediate coating layer is a carbonitride selected from the group consisting of titanium carbonitride, zirconium carbonitride and hafnium carbonitride; an outer mediate coating layer deposited to the inner mediate coating layer and wherein the outer mediate coating layer is a carbonitride selected from the group consisting of titanium carbonitride, zirconium carbonitride and hafnium carbonitride; and an outer coating layer deposited on the outer mediate coating layer wherein the outer coating layer is a carbide selected from the group consisting of titanium carbide, zirconium carbide and hafnium carbide. An exterior coating scheme is deposited on the base coating scheme by physical vapor deposition.

    摘要: A cutting insert includes a tool carrier having a body with a pocket, and a cutting tip affixed to the pocket by brazing. The pocket is defined by a vertical back wall and a horizontal support surface. A notch is formed at the intersection between the vertical back wall and the horizontal support surface. The notch has a non-planar first portion proximate the vertical back wall and formed with a radius, R1, and a planar second portion extending between the first portion and the horizontal support surface and formed at an inclination angle with respect to a plane parallel to the horizontal support surface of the pocket. The design of the notch significantly reduces thermal stress and eliminates the formation of cracks in the pocket of the tool carrier when using an injection molding process to form the tool carrier.

    摘要: An adapter sleeve is described for inserting into an expansion chuck of a cutting device with a substantially cylindrical body that defines a longitudinal axis (L) of the adapter sleeve and a seat area for a cutting tool. The body comprises an axial front end and an axial rear end opposite the front end by means of which the adapter sleeve can be inserted into the expansion chuck of the cutting device. An outlet element is provided at the axial front end through which a coolant can be discharged toward the cutting tool. At least one cooling line extends along the body up to the outlet element and comprises a body line section and an outlet element section. At least one channel-like outlet nozzle is formed in the outlet element and is in fluidic connection with the at least one cooling line. The flow cross-section of the cooling line decreases or remains the same toward the axial front end. In addition, a cutting device is described.
