Abstract: An improved electromagnetic apparatus includes a core and an armature which is movable relative to the core. A shading ring is connected with the core to provide magnetic flux which is out of phase with magnetic flux from the core. The shading ring includes a base formed a first metal and a layer of a second metal clad to the base. The first metal forming the base work hardens and has a greater resistance to fatigue failure induced by vibration than the second metal of the layer which is clad to the base. However, the second metal forming the clad layer has a greater electrical conductivity than the first metal of the base. The base may be formed of aluminum and the layer of metal clad to the base may be formed of copper. The layer of copper may be clad to the base by an extrusion process.

Abstract: A magnetic deflection yoke is designed for use with a three gun 100.degree. in-line cathode ray tube (5) having a gun base no longer than 5.9 mm and achieves self-convergence and four-sided pincushion correction by means of the cathode ray tube and yoke only. The yoke includes a set of segmented saddle-type horizontal deflection coils (8) and a set of toroidal-type vertical deflection coils (4) which are wound on a permeable core (3) surrounding the horizontal deflection coils. An insulating coilform (1) between the horizontal and vertical deflection coils supports the coils and facilitates their mounting to the neck portion of the cathode ray tube envelope. Magnetic field collectors (6) essentially surround the vertical deflection coils and directs the magnetic lines of flux through the cathode ray tube envelope to produce a linear vertical deflection of the cathode ray beam. Magnetic field shunts (7) are located between the vertical deflection coil and the insulating coilform and modify the magnetic lines of flux through the cathode ray tube envelope to produce a linear horizontal deflection of the cathode ray beam. The vertical deflection coils are wound so as to achieve a positive third harmonic coefficient and the horizontal deflection coil winding distribution is tailored to achieve, in combination with the magnetic field collectors and the magnetic field shunts, self-convergence and four-sided pincushion correction.

Abstract: An electromagnet is proposed which serves in particular for actuating a fuel injection valve for fuel injection systems of internal combustion engines. The electromagnet includes a housing and a magnetic coil mounted on a core. The supply of electric current to the magnetic coil is effected via contact prongs, which protrude via insulating inserts into the housing and whose ends are yieldingly surrounded by loops embodied on contact lugs. Abstract: Disclosed herein is an inexpensive tubular electromagnetic solenoid which employs stamped and drawn parts with a minimum of machined parts. The tubular housing is deep drawn and has a relatively light gauge side wall and an integrally formed end wall with apertures for pin terminals. A stamped flux enhancing disc is anchored exteriorly of the end wall and is swaged to a projecting portion of a pole piece located interiorly of the end wall. The flux disc-pole piece assembly rigidifies the housing end wall and the pole piece supports and positions one end of the bobbin. Stamped washers having axial apertures interfit into the end of the tubular housing and receive and support the other end of the bobbin. The bobbin has integrally molded pin terminal support bosses which project through apertures in the end wall and position and support the terminations.

Abstract: There is disclosed a solenoid of improved construction and a facile method for its manufacture. The solenoid is intended for use with cyclic voltage supplies and has a fixed-position pole assembly of a pole piece, shading ring and flux ring which is secured in a retaining sleeve. The pole piece has an annular groove which receives an inward, annular bead of the sleeve to retain the assembly. The sleeve is mounted within a solenoid casing within an annular coil and the casing is closed by an end closure plate which bears against the end of the sleeve. The inward annular offset of the sleeve provides a resilient axial compressability of the sleeve permitting facile assembly to precise tolerances.
