    摘要: An anatomically designed egg-shaped or elliptical-shaped nasopharyngeal airway for providing a comfortable and safe air passage through a nose to a nasopharynx includes a cannula having a proximal open end, a distal end, and a sidewall surrounding a lumen of the cannula. The nasopharyngeal airway has a port, which includes two or more openings separated by one or more bridges, in the sidewall, at a distal portion of the cannula. Upper and lower conduits may be located in channels of the sidewall of the cannula for delivery of oxygen and measurement of CO2 or other purposes.

    摘要: The disclosed laryngeal mask airway device includes an inflatable cuff and an airway tube. The inflatable cuff defines a central opening at least when inflated. The cuff is insertable through a mouth of a patient to an inserted location within the patient. The cuff surrounds a glottic opening of the patient when the cuff is inflated and at the inserted location. The airway tube extends from a proximal end to a distal end. The airway tube defines an internal passage, an anterior portion, a posterior portion, a left portion, and a right portion. An airway passage extends from the proximal end of the tube through the internal passage to the glottic opening when the cuff is inflated and at the inserted location. The anterior portion is characterized by a thinner wall thickness than the left and right portions. The posterior portion is characterized by a thinner wall thickness than the left and right portions.

    摘要: An airway device used to establish an airway in an unconscious person or person receiving general anesthesia. The device is composed of a gas tube with a breathing circuit connector on one end and an endplate on the other. The present art incorporates a guide cord, guide loops or conduits, a pull-ring, endplate creases, tubular notches and geometric gas tube designs. Specifically, the guide cord is attached to the endplate tip and routed through the endplate and gas tube by means of the guide loops or conduits. The guide cord exits near the gas tube connector and terminates to a pull-ring. The guide cord conveys pull-ring manipulation to the endplate and permits change of endplate attitude and shape and prevents endplate fold back. Also, endplate creases, gas tube notches and geometric gas tube designs are applied to optimize insertion and safety of the device.

    摘要: An artificial airway device for use in unconscious patients comprises a laryngo-pharyngeal mask including an expandable masking ring. The expandable mask sealingly surrounds the laryngeal inlet when expanded to obstruct communication between the laryngeal inlet and oesophagus. One or more airway tubes connected to the mask provide for fluid flow to a portion of the mask facing the laryngeal inlet when said mask sealingly surrounds the laryngeal inlet. A gastro-tube connected to the mask provides a fluid flow-path to the mask when the mask sealingly surrounds the laryngeal inlet. The distal end of the gastro tube passes through the masking ring at its narrower distal region where, when installed in a patient, it abuts against the oesophagus; and the distal portion of the gastro-tube flattens when the mask is deflated to facilitate smooth passage behind the larynx during insertion through the mouth and throat of the patient.
