Abstract: Various communication systems may benefit from suitable acknowledgement mechanisms. For example, wireless communication systems may benefit from methods and mechanisms for acknowledgement of a system information request. A method can include determining how to provide requested system information to a user equipment. The method can also include indicating to the user equipment whether the user equipment is to move to a connected mode or to stay in an idle or inactive mode to receive the system information.
