Abstract:
A system receives context data associated with a context and a user. The system then associates the context data to a user identifier and retrieves data associated with the context. The system then filters the data according to the context data to create result data. In another embodiment, the system also receives context data from a plurality of users, where the context data pertains to one or more attributes of a context. The system then using the context data ranks the one or more attributes of the context to create ranked data and generates a user interface based on the ranked data. In yet another embodiment, the system communicates context data associated with a context and a user to a server, and receives result data created by the server filtering data retrieved based on the context data. The system then generates a user interface based on the result data.
Abstract:
A system and method for context and community based customization for a user experience is disclosed. The apparatus in an example embodiment includes a user experience customizer to gather context information, automatically produce user experience customization selections based on the context information, collect user activity feedback from a community of users, and use the user activity feedback to adjust the user experience customizer to automatically produce user experience customization selections likely favored by a user based on a correlation of the user activity feedback with the context information.
Abstract:
A method and system associate electronic commerce listings with online content. In some embodiments, the a content provider presents content to a user. A request is received from the user to associate an electronic commerce listing of the user with the content. If the request is approved, an indicator is displayed within the content and associated with the electronic commerce listing.
Abstract:
A system and method of providing recommendations for search queries are disclosed. A search query is received. Historical data in a historical database is accessed using the search query. The historical data is related to inactive e-commerce items. Recommendations are generated for the search query based on the accessed historical data. The recommendations can comprise item recommendations, category recommendations, and query recommendations. The query recommendations can comprise suggested queries and a preview of search results for each of the suggested queries. The steps of accessing the historical data and generating the one or more recommendations can be performed in response to a determination that the number of results for the search query is below a predetermined threshold.
Abstract:
A method and a system for a finder to send an acceptance that indicates that the finder has accepted a request to find an item requested by a requestor. The finder then sends an electronic notification to one or more other people about the request for the item, wherein the electronic notification includes a monetary incentive for the one or more other people in addition to the finder to assist in locating the item. The finder or the one person of the one or more other people sends location information. The location information includes a seller's contact information or a listing within an online marketplace describing the item. The finder and the one person of the one or more other people receive compensation based on assisting in locating the requested item.
Abstract:
Queries submitted by users when interacting with a network-based system may be analyzed by a query mining machine that determines a theme common to the submitted queries. The machine accesses the submitted queries and identifies a portion of the submitted queries as corresponding to the theme. Identification of the portion may include determining a strength score of a submitted query, where the strength score indicates a degree of influence that the submitted query is to have on the identifying of the portion. The machine generates a thematic query based on the identified portion and obtains search results by executing the thematic query. The search results correspond to a group of items. The machine presents at least some of the group of items as a collection that corresponds to the theme (e.g., within a temporary electronic storefront).

Abstract:
Various example embodiments are provided for inferring relationships between queries. In an example, queries are related based on the identification of common terms between the queries. Another example is to relate queries based on the identification that the queries are associated with a single search session.
Abstract:
A method and system analyze data associated with a marketplace category. In some embodiments, a query is received that identifies a marketplace category from multiple marketplace categories associated with an electronic commerce marketplace. Data associated with the marketplace category is accessed and analyzed to identify multiple keywords used to identify listings in the marketplace category. A user interface is generated to display the analysis results, including at least a portion of the multiple keywords used to identify listings in the marketplace category.
Abstract:
Embodiments of a method and system for listing categorization are disclosed. A category structure may be accessed. The category structure may include a plurality of categories for items. A set of training data may be accessed from a plurality of listings from at least one of supply data and/or demand data. The supply data may be generated from seller activity of a plurality of users in a networked system. The demand data may be generated from buyer activity of the plurality of users in the networked system. Each listing may include a category from the category structure. The set of training data may be provided to a categorization application for training. The categorization application may be capable of building listing statistics by applying a classifier to the set of training data and recommending a category from the category structure for a new listing by utilizing the listing statistics.
