Abstract:
A new variety of African violets that have been bred from a hybrid formed by crossing Saintpaulia ionantha, the traditional florists' African violet with the high altitude species, Saintpaulia schumensis. The high cost of energy in northern latitudes and the relatively high temperatures required by Saintpaulia ionantha, which grows naturally at the foot of Mount Usamabara in East Africa, have made commercial growing of the violet expensive. By bringing in genes from Saintpaulia schumensis which grows at some 7,000 feet on the same mountain, which temperatures can fall as low as 55 degrees Fahrenheit, a new avenue of growth is opened up for this popular plant.

A new variety of African violet plant for potted plant culture particularly distinguished by its year around blooming capability, its profuse production of clear white with distinct violet blue edged flowers, and its abundant foliage of solid green color which provide a spreading base and attractive backing for the clusters of blossoms.
Abstract:
A new variety of African violet plant for potted plant culture particularly distinguished by its year around blooming capability, its profuse production of pink ruffled-edged flowers and its compact, girl-leaf foliage of solid green color. An ideal plant for small potted plant production.
Abstract:
A power device for a copying apparatus isolates the control circuit from electrical noise from an AC power line for the copying apparatus. A storage battery is used as a direct current power source for the control circuit, such that the control circuit is driven by power from the storage battery during copying operation, and the storage battery is charged during the period of stand-by for copying.
Abstract:
A heat-producing element for a fixing device to carry out heat-fixing after a toner image having been formed using a pulverized toner is transferred on an image support, a heat-producing element for a fixing device in which a thin-leaf graphite-pulverized material of a volume specific resistance of 10−6 Ω·cm to less than 10−2 Ω·cm is incorporated in a heat-resistant resin as a conductive material.
Abstract:
Disclosed is a heat-producing fixing belt of a cylindrical shape which is composed of a heat-producing layer, an elastic layer, and a releasing layer in this sequential order from the inner side, and the heat-producing layer contains a polyimide resin and fabric containing carbon fiber and a pair of electrodes to supply power to the heat-producing layer making contact with the fabric containing carbon fiber are provided on both ends of the cylindrical shape.
