Abstract: In one aspect, A computerized method of a gateway distributing routes learned through routing protocols (RP) into a Border Gateway Protocol (BGP) includes the step of providing a first gateway that receives a route over a routing protocol. The method includes the step of with the first gateway, redistributing the route to one or more peer routers as a BGP route based on one or more specified criteria. The method includes the step of setting a gateway precedence based on the redistribution of the route to the one or more peer routers as the BGP route. The method includes the step of, based on the gateway precedence, setting a second gateway to automatically redistribute the route with different priorities to influence steering of traffic to a preferred gateway.

Abstract: In one embodiment, an earthbound transceiver in a low earth orbit (LEO) satellite network establishes a connection with a first LEO satellite from a first set of LEO satellites. The first set of LEO satellites are distributed across a first plurality of orbits including first neighboring LEO satellites of the first LEO satellite, and the first neighboring LEO satellites have a fixed or semi-fixed position relative to the first LEO satellite. The earthbound transceiver determines first signal strength values associated with the first set of LEO satellites and second signal strength values associated with a second set of LEO satellites. The earthbound transceiver then periodically compares the first signal strength values to the second signal strength values. At an optimal handoff time, the earthbound transceiver initiates the handoff operation from the first LEO satellite to a second LEO satellite from the second set of LEO satellites.

Abstract: A packet processing method includes a first network device receiving a first Bit Index Explicit Replication (BIER) packet including a first BIER header. When the first BIER packet is a packet sent to a second network device, and in response to determining that the second network device is an edge node device in a BIER communication network and does not support BIER packet forwarding, the first network device determines a target label used for a reverse path forwarding (RPF) check, updates the first BIER packet to obtain a second BIER packet, where the second BIER packet includes the target label but does not include the first BIER header, and sends the second BIER packet to the second network device.

Abstract: A disclosed method may include (1) receiving, at a node within a network, an MPLS echo request from an additional node adjacent to the node, (2) determining that a FEC query is included in a FEC stack of the MPLS echo request and then, in response to determining that the FEC query is included in the FEC stack of the MPLS echo request, (3) determining at least one FEC that corresponds to a label included in a label stack of the MPLS echo request, and then (4) notifying the additional node of the FEC that corresponds to the label included in the label stack by sending, to the additional node, an MPLS echo reply that identifies the FEC that corresponds to the label. Abstract: A packet processing method includes carrying an associated channel in an IPv6 packet to provide different types of control channels. The associated channel may be transmitted together with user data. Each type of control channel carries at least one type of control and management message, and one type of control and management message may implement one type of control and management function. For example, if a plurality of control and management functions need to be implemented for the IPv6 network, a plurality of different types of control and management messages may all be carried by using the associated channel, without using a plurality of protocols to carry the plurality of types of control and management messages.

Abstract: A segment routing-based MPLS packet forwarding method and a device thereof are proposed. The method includes establishing a forwarding path in a Multiple Protocol Label Switching (MPLS) network by receiving a packet, checking whether processing of a size of a label stack related to each node included in the forwarding path is available or not in each node, generating a first MPLS packet by adding an MPLS header having the label stack to the packet in response to availability of the processing, and generating a second MPLS packet by adding an extension header having the label stack and by adding an MPLS header having a part of the label stack allocated according to the label stack size processable by each node to the packet in response to unavailability of the processing.
