The double gradient linkage assembly includes a damper system and a spring system that improves yaw axis (azimuth) control of the aircraft. Control is only required when a change in the yaw axis state is demanded. Since only minimal displacement inputs to such a FBW flight control system is required, the travel of the pedals are exceeding compact, such that pilot workload is significantly reduced through the reduction in the frequency and magnitude of aircraft control inputs.

    摘要: A force-feel system is implemented by mechanically coupling a servo-actuator to and in parallel with a flight control system. The servo-actuator consists of an electric motor, a gearing device, and a clutch. A commanded cockpit-flight-controller position is achieved by pilot actuation of a trim-switch. The position of the cockpit-flight-controller is compared with the commanded position to form a first error which is processed by a shaping function to correlate the first error with a commanded force at the cockpit-flight-controller. The commanded force on the cockpit-flight-controller provides centering forces and improved control feel for the pilot. In an embodiment, the force-feel system is used as the basic element of stability augmentation system (SAS). The SAS provides a stabilization signal that is compared with the commanded position to form a second error signal. The first error is summed with the second error for processing by the shaping function.

    摘要: An arrangement for generating control commands for controlling the slats and landing flaps of an aircraft includes two manually operable command input levers which are arranged directly side-by-side or as a “rod-within-rod” and are connected respectively by two linkages to two rotatable sensor disks that respectively cooperate with two sets of signal emitters that are electrically connected respectively to two control computers. The two levers and two linkages are coupled to form a single command transducer having two coupled parallel command transmission paths. Based on the signals of the signal emitters, the control computers generate actuating signals that are provided to actuators for adjusting the positions of the slats and landing flaps. A mechanical disconnect or jamming of one mechanical command transmission path or a malfunction or failure of one of the sensor arrangements will not cause a failure of the slat and flap command functions, because the other command transmission path will remain functional.

    摘要: A portable, hand-holdable controller for interfacing with various flight control, weapons control and other subsystems of an aircraft by a crew member who is not piloting the aircraft. In a preferred embodiment the portable controller includes a keyboard, a mode selector switch and a cursor control. The mode selector switch allows the controller to be interfaced with a plurality of independent multi-function display (MFD) or multi-purpose display (MPD) systems. The cursor control enables the non-pilot crew member to control the cursor on the display being interfaced with. The keyboard allows the non-pilot crew member to enter alphanumeric data or commands to the display being interfaced to. Interfacing is accomplished by coupling the controller via a suitable cable to a convenient point on a control panel of the aircraft. The controller is lightweight and compact and able to be held with one or both hands by the non-pilot crew member or alternatively strapped to a thigh of the crew member. The controller significantly improves the ergonomics associated with controlling the various systems of the aircraft which would otherwise require a significant number of repetitive hand movements by the non-pilot reaching to the control panel of the aircraft. The controller also eliminates the need for replicating various switches on the control panel. In an alternative embodiment a pair of independent cursor controls are used for independently controlling cursors on separate display systems of the aircraft. A visual display panel is also included for viewing data input from a keyboard of the controller.

    摘要: A collective detent system is incorporated in combination with the flight control system of a helicopter to enhance vertical takeoff flight operations of the helicopter. One embodiment of the collective detent system includes a collective control stick that is pivotable through a range of operating positions from a full-down collective position to a full-up collective position with one of the operating positions of the range defining a vertical takeoff operating position that provides the vertical takeoff power level required for the vertical takeoff flight profile of the helicopter, a trim switch for a conventional collective trim system that is operative to implement a trim mode function wherein the collective control stick can be trimmed in any selected operating position, a vertical takeoff (VTO) detent switch that is operative to generate a detent signal when activated, an adjustable sensor that is operative to generate a stick-position signal when the collective control stick is pivoted into the vertical takeoff operating position, a restraint force generating (RFG) device, and a modified trim system circuit that functionally interconnects the trim switch, the VTO detent switch, the adjustable sensor, and the RFG device in interactive combination. Prior to pivoting the collective control stick into the vertical takeoff operating position, the VTO detent switch is activated to generate the detent signal. During the vertical takeoff profile, the adjustable sensor detects the pivotal movement of the collective control stick into the vertical takeoff operating positions and generates the stick-position detent signal in response thereto. The RFG device is automatically operative in response to the detent signal and the stick-position signal to generate a restraint force against the collective control stick to electro-mechanically "detain" the collective control stick in the vertical takeoff operating position and to impede manual movement of the collective control stick out of the vertical takeoff operating position.
