Abstract: Disclosed is a method using a metallocene catalyst system so as to control the polymer structure of a diene-modified polypropylene through process simplification, thereby being capable of preparing a hyperbranched polypropylene resin having a low gel content and improved melt strength. The present invention provides a method using a catalyst so as to polymerize propylene and a diene compound, thereby preparing a diene-modified polypropylene resin having a branching index of 0.95 or less, a gel content of 3 wt % or less and an advanced rheometric expansion system (ARES) melt strength of 5 g or more.

Abstract: Disclosed are support-activators and catalyst compositions comprising the support-activators for polymerizing olefins in which the support-activator includes clay heteroadduct, prepare from a colloidal phyllosilicate such as a colloidal smectite clay, which is chemically-modified with a heterocoagulation agent. By limiting the amount of heterocoagulation reagent relative to the colloidal smectite clay as described herein, the smectite heteroadduct support-activator is a porous and amorphous solid which can be readily isolated from the resulting slurry by a conventional filtration process, and which can activate metallocenes and related catalysts toward olefin polymerization. Related compositions and processes are disclosed.

Abstract: Metallocene complexes represented by the structure below are useful for alpha olefin oligomerization in the presence of an activator to generate polyalphaolefins having a high percentage of vinylidene termination and relatively low Mn values. M is a group 4 transition metal. A is a bridging group having one bridging atom extending between a first indenyl ring and a second indenyl ring. Each X is independently an anionic ligand, or two Xs are joined and bound to M to form a metallocycle ring, or two Xs are joined to form a chelating ligand, a diene ligand, or an alkylidene ligand. R1, R1′, R3, R3′, R4, R4′, R7 and R7′ are hydrogen. R5, R5′, R6, and R6′ are independently a C1-C10, optionally substituted, hydrocarbyl group, or R5 and R6 and/or R5′ and R6′ are bonded together to form an optionally substituted hydrocarbyl ring structure.
