Abstract: In order to determine the nip between a print head and a printing substrate in an ink printing apparatus, ink droplets of a first and second size are simultaneously fired toward the printing substrate by different nozzles of a nozzle row of the print head given a predetermined feed velocity of the printing substrate, whereby print dots of a first size are generated on the printing substrate in a first two print dot row and print dots of a second size are generated on the printing substrate in a second two print dot row. The clearance of the first two print dot row from the second two print dot row is subsequently measured, and the size of the nip is determined from the measured clearance.

Abstract: A method for printing sheet-type substrates to prevent streaks during the ink-jet paint coating of substrates, includes moving a substrate in a feed direction past an application device by means of a conveying device, applying with the application device, during the movement of the substrate, a fluid application material drop by drop to the surface of the substrate in a pattern with a pre-defined contour, in particular leaving out regions, through a plurality of ink-jet nozzles arranged in a row transversely to the feed direction, in response to computer-controlled switching signals, and during the application of the pattern and during the movement of the substrate, moving the ink-jet nozzles back and forth transversely to the feed direction, preferably in the longitudinal direction of the arranged row of ink-jet nozzles, such that the paths travelled by the nozzles over the substrate by the overlap of the movement back and forth with the movement in the feed direction have direction components running perpendicular to the feed direction.

Abstract: According to one embodiment, a size of an element substrate is reduced, and a printhead using the element substrate can print high-quality image. The multilayer structured element substrate comprises a plurality of print elements, and a circuit configured to input a data signal and a clock signal used for driving the plurality of print elements. And, a print element array formed by arranging the plurality of print elements in line is diagonally arranged with respect to a side constituting an outer shape of the element substrate. A print element at one end of the print element array is a dummy element not contributing to printing. The circuit is provided not only at the same position as that of the dummy element but also in a layer different from that of the dummy element.

Abstract: In one example in accordance with the present disclosure, a fluidic die is described. The fluidic die includes an array of firing subassemblies grouped into zones. Each firing subassembly includes 1) a firing chamber, 2) a fluid actuator disposed, and 3) a sensor plate. The fluidic die also includes a measurement device per zone to determine a state of a selected sensor plate. The fluidic die includes a selector per firing subassembly to couple the selected sensor plate to the measurement device. The fluidic die also includes a transmission path between each selector and its corresponding sensor plate. A first transmission path for a particular sensor plate has physical properties such that a parasitic capacitance along the first transmission path corresponds to a parasitic capacitance for a second transmission path of a second sensor plate in the zone, regardless of a difference in transmission path length.

Abstract: A printer includes a transport unit, a line head, and a head moving unit. The transport unit supports a medium during transport. The line head performs recording on the medium that is disposed so as to face the transport unit at one or more recording positions of recording on the medium. The head moving unit moves the line head to one or more retreat positions away from the transport unit with respect to the recording position. In addition, the head moving unit moves the line head in a B direction intersecting both an X direction and a Z direction.

Abstract: A liquid ejecting apparatus includes a fixation member that can be located at a fixation position where a liquid supply coupling portion is coupled to a liquid ejecting head mounted on a carriage and is fixed to the carriage and at a release position where the fixation is released, and a carriage cover provided to the carriage such that the carriage cover is located at a closed position and covers an upper part of the carriage when the liquid ejecting head ejects the liquid. The carriage cover includes a contact portion that comes into contact with the fixation member when the carriage cover is located at a position different from the closed position in a case in which the fixation member is located at the release position.

Abstract: A liquid discharge head includes a recording element substrate including a discharge port. A channel member is configured to supply the recording element substrate with a liquid. An electric wiring board is configured to supply the recording element substrate with power. A plate-like protective member is directly or indirectly fixed to the channel member. In a case where a direction in which the recording element substrate is viewed from the channel member is defined as downward, the protective member includes a first bent portion configured to be bent in a transverse direction of the liquid discharge head. The first bent portion is located at a position that is above an upper end of the channel member and below a midpoint of a line segment connecting the upper end of the channel member and an upper end of the protective member.
