Abstract: A fish hook is arranged to include a fishing loop mounted at an upper terminal end, with the fishing loop mounted at an upper distal end of a loop shank, and a coil spring body directed downwardly from the loop shank coaxially aligned relative to the loop shank, with a hook member mounted to a lower distal end of the coil spring body. A plurality of hook members may be mounted at the lower distal end of the coil spring body in a concentric relationship. The invention further is arranged to include a container formed with a freezable gel and wells directed into the body, including the freezable gel to maintain bait mounted to the coil spring body in a fresh condition for subsequent use. Further, the coil spring body may include the spring coils formed of a tubular construction to contain freezable gel therewithin.

Abstract: The fishing aid has a component which is towed through the water in use. Hooks are provided on the component for engaging a dead bait fish or a strip of bait. The hooks are so designed that the bait assumes an upright, natural attitude during towing. A protective skirt is provided which embraces the bait and minimizes the tearing effect of the water as the device is towed. Water impinging on the device during towing causes it to flutter from side to side with attendant lifelike motions of the skirt and bait.

Abstract: The bait fish bridle positioning and attachment device disclosed herein includes a locking device having two flexible locking sections, each having a series of conically shaped knob sections, and having two openings in the locking device into which the flexible knob sections are drawn after embracing the bait fish and the hook shank. After tightening the flexible sections onto the bait fish and the hook shank, the sections are prevented from moving in reverse direction by the locking knobs on the flexible sections. The device may be made of nylon or similar composite material.

Abstract: An improved fishing device and method comprising a shank, a rearwardly located means for attaching fishing lines, one or more forwardly located fishhooks, and a forwardly located bait restraining means, such as a forward-facing hook. The device is preferably inserted, rearward end first, into the mouth of a bait fish such that the rearward portion and bait restraining means lie within the bait, and the fishhook or fishhooks protrude from the point of insertion. The bait restraining means is then engaged with the bait such that when the device is pulled in a forward direction by a fishing line, the bait remains secured to the device yet is substantially uninjured and unimpaired by the device.

Abstract: A bait-retaining fishhook includes a metal fishhook having an elongated, curved body with a line-retaining eye at one end and a point at the other end and a bait retaining member attached thereto. The bait retainer is an elongated piece of flexible thermoplastic material such as monofilament fishing line attached at one end to the body of the hook adjacent the point, the other end of the line extending away from said body portion. When bait is placed on the fishhook, and particularly when force is applied to pull the bait from the hook, the bait retaining member is separated from the body portion and inhibits removal of the bait from the hook. The assembly is made by heating the hook above the softening point of the line and touching an end of the line to the heated hook, thereby melting the end of the line onto the hook body, forming a secure connection.

Abstract: A fishhook includes a jig head of weighted or floatable material with a rearwardly extending retainer received in the forward end of a pliable plastic body element.
