A scan of each of the two symmetrical images with a quadrupled interlace raster is produced. Video signals are repeated prior to image reproduction in order to avoid line creep. Repetition of one and the same video recording can be performed line by line, for example for video films intended for domestic use, and can be performed frame by frame for studio reproduction.

    摘要: An apparatus is described for converting cinematographic images into video signals. The film gate in which a frame to be scanned is located is illuminated uniformly. The film is scanned by means of a rotatable scanning mirror, which with the aid of an imaging system images one line of the film frame onto one row (three rows for color film) of radiation sensitive detectors. The detectors of a row are read sequentially. The illumination beam has a large aperture angle in a first plane transverse to the direction of film transport and a small aperture angle in a plane transverse to the first plane. The film movement is detected with the aid of a sprocket hole detection system, in which an elongate narrow light spot, whose longitudinal direction is transverse to the direction of film transport, is projected onto the strip of film with the sprocket holes. The position of the scanning mirror is detected with the aid of two gratings of special shape.

    摘要: This invention concerns a continuous motion flying spot telecine apparatus of the kind comprising a cathode ray tube for effecting flying spot line-by-line scanning of each frame of a film during its motion through a scanning station, opto-electronic converter means for producing from the scanning of each film frame an analogue signal comprising a plurality of lines of which at least a part of each (the active part) contains picture information, an analogue-to-digital converter for sampling the analogue signal at a predetermined clock frequency, a filter for limiting the bandwidth of the analogue signal prior to sampling to avoid interference between the clock frequency and high frequencies in the analogue signal, a store for storing digital signals produced by the sampling, and means for reading out the stored digital signals in a predetermined sequence and at a predetermined rate.In order to permit scanning of different format films or only part of the film frame height without burning the c.r.t., the apparatus further comprises means for selectively changing the line frequency of scanning between at least two values. In order to avoid changing the clock frequency when changing the line frequency, which would necessitate the use of switchable filters, means are provided for controlling the horizontal deflection speed of the flying spot in such manner that for either line scanning frequency the time taken to derive the active part of each line of the analogue signal corresponds to the same number of clock signals in each case. Preferably the last mentioned means comprises means for changing the horizontal scan amplitude of the flying spot in inverse proportion to the change in line scanning frequency.

The current in a primary circuit of a transformer is determined by a transistor the impedance of which is controlled by negative feedback from a high voltage output coupled to the secondary circuit of the transformer. Current pulses in the primary are produced by switching another transistor in the primary circuit at television line frequency. The circuit can be employed to supply a dynode resistor chain of a photomultiplier in a flying spot colour television transmitter, the luminance signal being averaged by a long time constant integrating circuit and summed with the negative feedback to provide a further feedback control compensating for variation in the average density of film being scanned.

Means are provided for transforming the first and second time-spaced signals into a velocity signal, such means including a reference signal having a value representative of the physical distance Delta D, first integrator means responsive to the velocity signal for producing a first ramp signal having a ramp slope dependent upon the value of the velocity signal and a period established by the second signal, difference means responsive to the reference signal and the first ramp signal for producing a second ramp signal representative of the instantaneous difference between the value of the reference signal and the time varying ramp slope of the first ramp signal, second integrator means responsive to the instantaneous amplitude of the difference signal for producing the velocity signal, and gate means responsive to the first signal that operates as a sampling signal for applying the second ramp signal to the second integrator means for a sampling period corresponding to the first period of the first signal, whereby the second integrator means is responsive to the sampled instantaneous value of the second ramp signal during the sampling period to produce the velocity signal having a value representative of the first predetermined rate of movement of the information bearing media and independent of non-uniform spacings of successive image frames. In telecine reproduction apparatus, the first ramp signal may be employed to modify the scanning rate of the telecine apparatus to synchronize it to the continuously moving image frames.
