Abstract:
An intelligent television, methods for displaying content, and methods for user interaction between the intelligent television and the user are provided. In general, a user is provided with a side menu allowing for navigation, selection, additional content, display, and search options that enable one or more functions associated with the intelligent television. The presentation of options is based on input received by the intelligent television. As a user provides input to the intelligent television via a remote control or other input device. The intelligent television is configured to interpret the input and provide interactive functionality in the form of content presented to the display of the intelligent television without obstructing the user from viewing content displayed on the screen of the intelligent television.
Abstract:
There are disclosed a signal processing method, a signal reception processing apparatus and a TV system, wherein the signal processing method comprises: receiving a control signal and decoding said control signal; comparing a signal instruction obtained from the decoding with preset instructions and generating an execution instruction corresponding to the matched preset instruction, wherein said preset instructions include a channel storage instruction and a channel change instruction; and performing corresponding execution actions according to the execution instruction. In the signal reception processing apparatus and the TV system based on the above method, specific channels are stored by decoding the control signal, and thus by storing specific channels, the aged can perform operations only on these specific TV channels instead of all TV channels when watching TV programs, and therefore they can watch TV program conveniently.
Abstract:
A content hosting system allows content providers to create channels of video content and make them available to users in a marketplace. Users can search or browse for channels of interest, and selectively subscribe to channels. Users can also pay for the right to view premium videos in each channel. The system ranks channels according to the value provided. Generally, users will seek out and subscribe to the highest ranked channels that provide the greatest value. The ranking function allows different providers to compete for the subscriptions of users. Providers can observe their channel's reception in the market by analyzing rankings and usage statistics to adjust channels to maximize channel performance. The system operator can also create bundled channels containing videos from multiple providers, and the resulting subscription revenue can be distributed to the various providers of the videos in the channel.
Abstract:
An intelligent television can provide various interfaces for navigating processes associated with providing content. The user interfaces include unique visual representations and organizations that allow the user to utilize the intelligent television more easily and more effectively. Particularly, the user interfaces pertain to the display of media content, electronic programming guide information, television content, and other content. Further, the user interfaces provide unique process of transitioning between the content.
Abstract:
A system and method for utilizing data stored in an EPG database for modifying advertisement information. In this way, a service provider and/or an advertiser can transmit a single advertisement to all the television stations regardless of their geographic location and other user specific information, and need not re-transmit the advertisement even if there is a change in the show's program description. When the advertisement is displayed, the correct updated information is retrieved from the EPG database and inserted into the advertisement. In one aspect, the present invention describes a method for modifying an advertisement in an EPG comprising the steps of: storing television schedule information in a first database; storing advertisement information in a second database; incorporating a portion of the television schedule information into a portion of the advertisement information to form a modified advertisement; and displaying the modified advertisement on a screen.
Abstract:
An intelligent television can provide various interfaces for providing video-on-demand (VOD). The user interfaces include unique visual representations and organizations that allow the user to utilize the intelligent television more easily and more effectively. Particularly, the user interfaces pertain to the display of VOD content and better organizations thereof. Further, the user interfaces provide unique process of transitioning between the VOD content.
Abstract:
A media guidance application is provided by which users can view program listings associated with programming that the user may access using other user equipment devices. The media guidance application, implemented on, for example, a remote system, may determine through communications with television equipment whether or not the television equipment is authorized to provide a particular package of television programming to be viewed by the user. For example, an online program guide application may determine whether or not television equipment allows a user to view particular channels and, based on that determination, proceed to determine what packages of programming the user subscribes to. A customized program guide may then be displayed based on what programming the user subscribes to on various systems.
Abstract:
A method for television signal recording the method comprising the steps of: providing access to at least one catch up TV service; generating a signal comprising a graphical user interface of an electronic program guide; awaiting selection of a program for recording: the method further comprising the step of: checking whether the program, selected for recording, is available for retrieval via one of the at least one catch up TV service; storing a reference information to the program, the reference allowing for retrieval of the selected program from a selected program catch up TV service; making the selected program available as a recording entry on a list of recordings; monitoring expiry of the program in the selected catch up TV service; retrieving and recording the program, on a storage device, sufficiently prior to the expiry of the program in the catch up TV service.
Abstract:
According to one embodiment, a method of displaying using an electronic device includes displaying a first screen image including first icons indicative of scheduled-for-recording TV programs and second icons indicative of recorded TV programs. The first icons are arranged in the time/date order of the scheduled-for recording TV programs. The second icons are arranged in time/date order of the recorded TV programs. One of the first icon of the scheduled-for-recording TV program, which will be recorded next, is arranged near one of the second icons of the most recently recorded TV program. A focus for selecting at least one TV program is set on the recorded TV program whose recording time/date is most recent, when transition to the first screen image has been made.
