Abstract:
A color electrophotographic apparatus includes a photosensitive belt arranged obliquely, and a plurality of developing machines arranged on one side of the photosensitive belt in a stacked manner so as to be displaced from one another in a horizontal direction. The photosensitive belt is movable from below to above in a direction opposite to a direction of gravity when in a developing position. The developing machines include a non-magnetic, one component contact developing system having a developing roll for adhering toner on the photosensitive belt and a blade disposed below the developing roll for controlling an amount of toner adhering to the developing roll.
Abstract:
An electrophotographic printing machine has a photoreceptive member. The photoreceptive member is charged and then exposed with a light image representation to form a latent image. An electric field, less than that required to re-charge the photoreceptive member, is applied to the latent image to increase the rate of discharge of the exposed portions of the latent image. The latent image is then developed.
Abstract:
Xerographic printing system using a Raster Output Scanning (ROS) system incorporating a two wavelength (.lambda.) laser diode source for the ROS and a charge retentive member in the form of a belt or drum structure which is responsive to the two wavelengths. The printing system utilizes a CAD development system in addition to two DAD developments during the second pass for enabling the addition of a gamut broadening color resulting in process color imaging with an enhanced gamut.

A transfer member having a substrate, an outer silicone rubber layer, and a silicone polymer release agent material, wherein the release agent material is a polydimethyl siloxane cationic liquid emulsion.
Abstract:
A high slope charging device including a DC portion followed by an AC portion. The high slope device includes an insulative shell housing, an electrode and a corona wire. The electrode is coupled to direct current power source which supplies a constant potential to the electrode thereby generating a corona at the electrode. An alternating current power source supplies an alternating voltage to the corona wire. The high slope device beneficially is designed such that both the electrode and the corona wire charge a charge retentive surface to the same potential.
Abstract:
A printing system for printing multiple colors on a sheet of print media includes an electrophotographic printer having a photoconductor drum and a transfer roller configured to interact in co-rotation with the drum during transfer of a color image plane from the drum onto a sheet of print media passed therebetween. A paper drive sheet feeder system is included which has a grit shaft extending generally transverse of a paper travel path, a first pinch roller configured to interact in co-rotation with the grit shaft along a first edge of a sheet of print media, and a second pinch roller configured to interact in co-rotation with the grit shaft along a second edge of the sheet of print media. The grit shaft is driven in rotation to drive the sheet of print media along a bidirectional sheet travel path such that a plurality of different colored image planes is superposed onto the sheet of print media in accurate registration therebetween. A method for printing multiple colors is also described.
Abstract:
A developing cartridge for developing a latent image formed on the photosensitive member is detachably mountable to a main assembly of an electrophotographic image forming apparatus. The developing cartridge includes a cartridge frame, a developer device for developing, with toner, the latent image formed on the photosensitive member of the main assembly of the apparatus when the cartridge is mounted to the main assembly of the electrophotographic image forming apparatus, and a first projected portion projected from one longitudinal end of the frame. The first projected portion is supported by a first supporting member provided in the main assembly when the cartridge is mounted to the main assembly of the electrophotographic image forming apparatus. The cartridge also includes a second projected portion projected from the other longitudinal end of the frame. The second projected portion is supported by a second supporting member provided in the main assembly when the cartridge is mounted to the main assembly of the electrophotographic image forming apparatus. The cartridge further includes a driving force receptor member for receiving, from the main assembly of the device, a driving force for rotating the developer device when the cartridge is mounted to the main assembly. The driving force receptor member is exposed from the one longitudinal end. Also provided is a movable guide, provided in the cartridge frame for guiding the developing cartridge toward a mounting position when the cartridge is mounted to the main assembly.
Abstract:
A transfer device according to the present invention is comprised of a transfer material carrying member such as paper, a transfer charger provided in the transfer material carrying member, and an opposite member comprising elastic material opposite to the transfer member. The opposite member is movable to both a contact position with the surface of the transfer material carrying member and a separate position away from the surface of the transfer material carrying member. When the transfer material positions at the adsorption position, the opposite member is switched to move to the contact position from the separate position to carry a transfer material thereon. After the transfer material is carried, the transfer material is adsorbed on the surface of the transfer material carrying member.
