Abstract:
A device for the even, continuous impregnation of textile rope wherein at least two vertically spaced spray tubes spray impregnating liquor onto the rope which then passes to double conical shaped impregnation element disposed below the sprays; transport rollers below the impregnation element convey the rope and underneath the transport rollers, a compression compartment compresses the rope which is then passed in narrow loops around staggered rollers for fulling.
Abstract:
A method for stretching a tow of filaments wherein the tow is passed under tension through a chamber, the chamber having openings at the ends thereof for passage of the tow, and streams of heated liquid are forced transversely through the tow at the chamber openings at a critical minimum rate at least as great asx = 3,000T.sqroot.(WN/h(.mu./.rho.)where x is the heated liquid flow rate in gallons per minute through each opening, T is the thickness of the streams of heated liquid in inches at said openings, W is the width of the openings and the liquid streams in inches, h is the height or thickness in inches that the tow is free to assume in passing through the openings, N is the number of filaments in the tow, .mu. is the viscosity of the heated liquid in pounds per foot-second and .rho. is the density of the heated liquid in pounds per cubic foot.
Abstract:
Apparatus for the complete impregnation with a treating liquid and the controlled squeezing of a textile product running continuously. The apparatus consists essentially of the following elements: - AN IMPREGNATION CHAMBER - A SQUEEZING CHAMBER - A FEEDING TANK - MEANS FOR FEEDING SAID TREATING LIQUID, UNDER PRESSURE, FROM THE TANK TO THE IMPREGNATION CHAMBER - MEANS OF MAINTAINING A PARTIAL VACUUM IN THE TANK AND IN THE SQUEEZING CHAMBER. Coating of textile yarns with products of high viscosity.
Abstract:
Thread is treated continuously and effectively with a liquid by passing the thread through a passage of tunnel-like treating device which is arranged alone or in series along a thread passage between one pair of thread delivery rolls, which device comprises a pair of plates, each having on its mutually facing inner surface a plurality of protrusions and grooves, forming the passage therebetween and having one or more inlets for sending the liquid pressurizedly therethrough that are located on the back of the plate. The treating liquid flows through the tunnellike device, forming vortices in the grooves between the protrusions and thus the vortices contacting with thread accelerate treatment of the thread passing through the passage. The process and apparatus for treating thread continuously and effectively may be applicable for mercerization, dyeing, scouring, or the like.
Abstract:
A yarn texturing and coating operation where a traveling yarn is air bulked or textured and coated with liquid prior to collection into a wound package. The coating apparatus includes: adjacent rotatably mounted members each having an external groove circling its axis of rotation; means for advancing the textured yarn between the members and through a portion of each of the grooves; means for rotating the members together in opposite directions to move the walls of the grooves at a speed less than the speed of and in the same direction as the textured yarn advanced through the grooves; and means for supplying a liquid to the grooves in advance of the yarn. The moving walls of the grooves move the liquid into contact with the yarn to effect a coating thereon as it travels through the grooves.
