    Abstract: A hammer drive mechanism is provided for converting rotary drive from a motor to reciprocatory movement of an impact member of a hammer drill. The mechanism comprises a rotatable plate adapted to be rotated by the motor, an input drive member associated with the rotatable plate in an eccentric position with respect to the axis of rotation of the rotatable plate, an output drive member associated with the impact member, and a crank shaft having a respective driver adjacent each of its ends. Each driver engages with, and is complementary to a respective one of the drive members. At least one end portion of the crank shaft comprises a lubricating aperture which opens into the adjacent driver to provide a lubrication path to the engaging surfaces of the drivers and the drive members.

    Abstract: A rotary hammer is adapted to impart axial impacts to a tool bit. The rotary hammer includes a motor, a spindle coupled to the motor for receiving torque from the motor, and a piston at least partially received within the spindle for reciprocation therein. A crank hub is coupled to the motor for receiving torque from the motor. The crank hub defines a rotational axis and includes a socket offset from the rotational axis. A pin includes a first portion at least partially received within the socket and a second portion fixed to the piston. The first portion of the pin is both pivotable within the socket and axially displaceable relative to the socket in response to rotation of the crank hub for reciprocating the piston between a forward-most position within the spindle and a rearward-most position within the spindle.

    Abstract: An electrical hammer (100) comprises a main housing (101), a hand grip (500) connected to the main housing (101) via a compression coil spring (321). In the electrical hammer (100), a hammer bit (119) is driven by a first motion converting mechanism (120) and thereby a hammering operation is performed. During the hammering operation, the hand grip (500) is moved against the main housing (101) in a state that biasing force of the compression coil spring (321) is applied on the hand grip (500). Further, the electrical hammer (100) comprises a second motion converting mechanism (220) which drives a counterweight (231).

    Abstract: A hammer drill comprises a motor including an output shaft, a shaft assembly rotationally engaged therewith, a hollow spindle, and a hammer mechanism comprising a piston arranged for reciprocating motion within the spindle. The shaft assembly comprises a first part carrying a first gear engaged with a gear on the spindle to cause spindle rotation, a second part carrying a crank member to cause piston reciprocation, and a connecting part configured to rotationally interconnect, or disconnect, the first and second parts. In a first position of the connecting part only one of the first and second parts is rotationally engaged with the output shaft to enable rotation of only one of the first gear and the crank member respectively, while in a second position both the first and second parts are rotationally engaged with the output shaft to enable rotation of both the first gear and the crank member.

    Abstract: A electric hammer includes a generally pistol shaped housing with a grip portion, a barrel portion and an electric motor and battery pack disposed in the grip portion. The motor includes an output shaft that extends upwardly into the barrel portion, a cylindrical drum fixed to the shaft with a generally flat upper surface and peripheral edge. The drum in the shape of a right circular cylinder includes a cavity or short passageway extending from the upper surface into the interior thereof. A longitudinally extending rod with a short transverse portion extending into the cavity so that the rotation of the drum provides reciprocal movement of the rod causing a hammer head to repeatedly strike a nail head. An important feature of the hammer resides in a tubular member with a tapered bore running through the barrel portion of the electric hammer allowing for limited lateral movement of the elongated rod as it repeatedly strikes the head of a nail with a solid metal hammer head.
