Abstract: A base station (BS) in a wireless communication system is provided. The BS comprises a processor configured to determine frequency units within a frequency range for a bandwidth of an operating carrier, wherein a listen-before-talk (LBT) operation is performed over each of the frequency units; and determine, for each of the frequency units, a set of intended spatial transmit (TX) parameters and a set of spatial receiver (RX) parameters of the LBT operation; and determine a subset of the frequency units for a downlink transmission based on the LBT operation performed over each of the frequency units; and a transceiver operably connected to processor, which is configured to transmit, to a user equipment (UE), downlink channels using the bandwidth corresponding to the determined subset of the frequency units.

Abstract: A method of a base station (BS) for transmitting synchronization signals in a wireless communication system. The method comprises generating a primary synchronization signal (PSS) including one of multiple PSS sequences that is generated based on a M-sequence of length 127 in a frequency domain, wherein the PSS indicates part of cell identification (ID) information using a cyclic shift performed on the M-sequence generating the PSS; generating a secondary synchronization signal (SSS) including one of multiple SSS sequences that is generated based on multiple BPSK modulated M-sequences of length 127 in the frequency domain, wherein the SSS indicates the cell ID information using cyclic shifts performed on the M-sequences generating the SSS; and transmitting, to a user equipment (UE), the PSS and SSS over downlink channels.

Abstract: Methods and apparatuses for measurement reference signals and synchronization signals. A user equipment (UE) includes a transceiver and a processor operably connected to the transceiver. The transceiver is configured to receive a primary synchronization signal (PSS), a secondary synchronization signal (SSS), and a primary broadcast channel (PBCH). The processor is configured to decode cell identification information from at least the PSS and the SSS and to decode a master information block (MIB) from the PBCH. The PSS, the SSS, and the PBCH are time-division multiplexed. A same set of sequences are used for the PSS and the SSS for different carrier frequencies and different sub-carrier spacing values.

Abstract: A method of a user equipment (UE) for controlling reference signal in a wireless communication system is provided. The method comprises receiving, from a base station (BS), a demodulation reference signal (DMRS) of a physical broadcasting channel (PBCH) over a downlink channel and determining resources to be used for the DMRS of the PBCH. A pseudo-noise (PN) sequence that is mapped to the resources to be used for the DMRS of the PBCH is generated by a base station (BS). The PN sequence is generated based on an initial condition including a physical cell identification (ID) and timing information comprising at least one of an index of synchronization signal block (SSB) or an index of a half frame within a frame based on a carrier frequency range. The index of SSB comprises at least one of a partial or whole index of SSB.
