Abstract: A method for distributing packets of a data traffic over aggregated radio links connecting a node of a packet-switched wireless communication network to a further node of the packet-switched wireless communication network includes, at an indoor unit of the node, configuring at least one set of distribution rules indicating, for each of a first radio link and a second radio link of the aggregated radio links, an association between the radio link and a subset of values of a priority parameter carried within the packets. The method also includes, upon reception of a packet of the data traffic, distributing the packet over the first radio link or the second radio link on the basis of the priority parameter value carried within the packet and the associations.

Abstract: A first user equipment can communicate with a second user equipment in a direct mode or in an infrastructure mode via a base station of a network. To communicate with the second user equipment, the first user equipment generates packets and forwards the packets to a lower protocol layer of a protocol stack. The first user equipment also acts as a buffer protocol entity by storing the packets until acknowledgement of receipt is received from the second user equipment. If the first user equipment switches from the direct mode to the infrastructure mode, or vice versa, the first user equipment forwards each of the stored packets to the lower protocol layer for transmission to the second user equipment using the current mode.

Abstract: It is disclosed a method for managing a congestion in a communication network supporting the transmission of multicast data flows. The method comprises, upon detection of a congestion at a transmission interface of a router: identifying a multicast data flow being forwarded through the transmission interface and suffering a packet loss; interrupting the transmission of the data flow through the transmission interface downstream the router and, in case the data flow would be transmitted downstream the router trough the transmission interface only, sending a request to an upstream router for interrupting the transmission of the data flow from the upstream router to the router; and inhibiting, for a given period of time, any request to forward the data flow via the transmission interface.

Abstract: A method for determining the mobility status of a user of a wireless communication network includes retrieving, from the wireless communication network, an indication about interactions between a user equipment associated with that user and the wireless communication network, and, for each interaction, determining a served area of the wireless communication network pertaining to that user equipment at the occurrence of that interaction, and determining the mobility status of that user at the occurrence of that interaction according to a comparison between a distance between the served area and a first further served area of the wireless communication network pertaining to that user equipment, and a first threshold distance; or a comparison between a distance between the served area and a second further served area of the wireless communication network pertaining to that user equipment, and a second threshold distance.

Abstract: A method (200; 600) of balancing a traffic load among at least apart of traffic managing entities (105;110) of a mobile telecommunication network (100) comprising a plurality of traffic managing entities (105;110) is proposed. The method comprises the following steps: collecting (205; 605) traffic-related data referred to said at least a part of traffic managing entities (105;110); identifying (220; 620) a first set of traffic managing entities (105;110) managing an excessive traffic load on the basis of such traffic-related data; identifying (220; 620) a second set of traffic managing entities (105;110) adapted to take charge of at least part of the excessive traffic load to which traffic managing entities (105;110) of first set of traffic managing entities (105;110) are subjected. Moreover, for each traffic managing entity (105;110) of the first set of traffic managing entities (105;110) the method comprises: determining (235-240; 630) at least one traffic managing entity (105;110) of the second set of traffic managing entities (105;110) adapted to take charge of at least part of the excessive traffic load managed by said traffic managing entity (105;110) of the first set of traffic managing entities (105;110); assigning (245; 635) at least part of the excessive traffic load to which said traffic managing entity (105;110) of first set of traffic managing entities (105; 10) is subjected to the determined at least one least one traffic managing entity (105;110) of the second set of traffic managing entities (105;110), and adjusting (245; 635) radio communication parameters of said traffic managing entity (105;110) of the first set of traffic managing entities (105; 10) and of said determined at least one traffic managing entity (105;110) of the second set of 20 traffic managing entities (105;110) thereby redistributing traffic load on the basis of such assigning.

Abstract: It is disclosed a method for performing a performance measurement on a packet flow transmitted along a path through a packet switched communication network. Two or more measurement points are implemented on the path. Each measurement point calculates a sampling signature for each received packet by applying a hash function to a mask of bits of the packet. Then, it selects a number of measurement samples amongst the received packets, the measurement samples being selected as those packets whose sampling signatures comprise a portion of length S equal to a predefined sampling value. While performing the selection, the measurement point counts the number of selected measurement samples and retroactively adjusts the length based on this number. Then, the measurement point provides measurement parameters relating to the selected measurement samples.
