    Abstract: Systems and methods for beam failure recovery (BFR) are disclosed herein. A user equipment (UE) receives downlink (DL) reference signal(s) on corresponding beam(s) from a base station. The UE performs beam failure detection (BFD) on such beams used for user data to determine whether a beam failure has occurred, and candidate beam detection (CBD) on such beams not used for user data to identify candidate beams for recovering from the beam failure. The BFD and the CBD are based on both uplink (UL) channel performance considerations and DL channel performance considerations, as determined using the DL reference signal(s), such that a beam failure may be determined in the UL, the DL, or both, and a candidate beam may be identified for UL, DL, or both. The UE sends a beam failure recovery request BFRQ with this information to the base station, and the system changes beams accordingly.

    Abstract: Systems and methods for networks having user equipment (UE) that can perform measurement/reporting of received signals and a sounding reference signal (SRS) transmission that is part of an SRS antenna port switching procedure are described herein. In some circumstances, the measurement and the SRS antenna port switching procedure overlap on one or more symbols. Across various embodiments, the UE prioritizes one of the measurement and the SRS antenna port switching procedure based on one or more of a scheduling type (periodic, semi-persistent, aperiodic) of the measurement, a scheduling type of a channel state information (CSI) report for a measurement result for the measurement, and/or a scheduling type of the SRS transmission of the SRS antenna port switching procedure. Networks that avoid overlaps by scheduling SRS transmissions away from UE signal measurements, or transmissions of signals to be measured away from UE SRS antenna port switching procedures, are also described.

    Abstract: Aspects herein relate to wireless devices, circuits, and methods for triggering earlier Channel State Information (CSI) feedback, comprising: transmitting, by a wireless device to a wireless station, an indication to provide earlier CSI feedback (e.g., wherein the indication comprises an indication that the wireless device has a reduced capability to receive messages); receiving from the wireless station, in response to the indication, a modified message (e.g., a Downlink Control Information or modified Medium Access Control Random Access Response), wherein the modified message triggers an earlier CSI feedback from the wireless device; transmitting to the wireless station, in response to receiving the modified message, the earlier CSI feedback using a message related to a RACH procedure (e.g., a Msg3); and completing a connection to the wireless station, e.g., in response to a repeated number of initial access messages broadcast from the wireless station and based on the transmitted CSI feedback.

    Abstract: Systems and methods for using a relay user equipment (UE) to transport data of interest received from a first remote UE to a second remote UE on a UE to UE relay within a wireless communication system are discussed herein. These methods may be performed at Layer 2 of a protocol stack of the wireless communication system. Data packets sent on the UE to UE relay may include an adaptation header including routing information (e.g., Layer 2 addresses, a bearer-specific index, etc.) for the UE to UE relay. An adaptation layer may accordingly be provided within Layer 2 to decode these adaptation headers. In some cases, a per-bearer approach may be used to map between individual direct bearers of a hop by hop path configuration of the UE to UE relay. Embodiments eschewing the adaptation header and instead using logical channel identifiers (LCIDs) to make routing indications are also described.

    Abstract: An example method for wireless communication includes: transmitting to a base station, via a user device: (1) a capability report for each of a plurality of antenna panels; and (2) an initial antenna panel index; receiving, from the base station, configuration information corresponding to each antenna panel of the plurality of antenna panels; selecting a first antenna panel for a first uplink (UL) transmission to the base station, wherein the first antenna panel corresponds to the antenna panel with the initial antenna panel index; selecting first configuration information corresponding to the selected first antenna panel; and transmitting the first UL transmission to the base station, using the selected first antenna panel and the selected first configuration information. In other aspects, rather than initially receiving configuration information corresponding to each antenna panel, the user device may receive the configuration information for each panel as it is selected for an UL transmission.

    Abstract: Provided is a method for a user equipment (UE). The UE obtains a physical uplink control channel (PUCCH) secondary cell (SCell) activation command from a primary cell (PCell) or primary secondary-cell-group cell (PSCell). The PUCCH SCell activation command is used for an PUCCH SCell activation of a target PUCCH SCell for the UE. The UE performs PUCCH SCell activation operations associated with a valid timing advance (TA) and the PUCCH SCell activation command. TA is considered to be a valid TA when the TA meets a preset criterion. The UE generates a channel state information (CSI) report for transmission to at least one of the PCell, PSCell and the target PUCCH SCell. The CSI report indicates that the PUCCH SCell activation is completed.

    Abstract: Techniques discussed herein may better ensure efficient fine time tracking during a second cell (SCell) activation procedure by using a tracking reference signal (TRS) that is User Equipment (UE) specific. A primary cell (PCell) may provide a UE with a TRS configuration that includes a UE-specific reference signal (RS) with aperiodicity. In response to receiving a SCell activation command from the PCell, the UE may perform cell activation in accordance with the UE-specific RS. As the delay time for the UE-specific RS may be less than the delay time for a system synchronization block (SSB) from the SCell, use of the UE-specific RS may expedite the cell activation procedure.
