The present invention discloses a mobile communication apparatus that includes a first casing and a second casing. The first casing has an opening and an operating interface disposed around the opening of a side of the first casing. The second casing has two display screens disposed separately on two corresponding surfaces thereof, and each display screen separately corresponds to a different program module of the mobile communication apparatus. The second casing is pivotally disposed in the opening, such that the second casing can be spun in the opening. If the second casing is turned over to expose a display screen with the operating interface, the mobile communication apparatus then initiates the program module corresponding to the screen display, and the screen display shows messages outputted by the program module.

To provide a mobile information terminal that facilitates an operation of switching communication methods, the mobile terminal includes a first housing, a second housing connected to the first housing in a relatively movable manner, a status detecting portion, a WiMAX communication portion, a CDMA communication portion, and a mode switching portion. The second housing has a first part and a second part on its surface facing the first housing. The mobile terminal can be changed in status to a data communication style in which the first part is exposed and to a voice call style in which the second part is exposed. The status detecting portion detects whether the mobile terminal is in the data communication style or in the voice call style (S03). The mode switching portion switches the communication mode, on the basis of the status detected by the status detecting portion (S05, S21), to either a data communication mode in which communication is performed using the WiMAX communication portion, or a CDMA communication mode in which communication is performed using the CDMA communication portion (S10, S22).

A mobile terminal and display controlling method thereof are disclosed. The present invention includes detecting whether the position of the keypad is shifted to cover a partial display region of the display unit, if it is detected that the position of the keypad is shifted, changing a normal display mode into a control display mode, and if the control display mode is entered, performing a display operation corresponding to the control display mode in a different display region except the partial display region. Accordingly, in case that a keypad is located to cover a display region of a display unit in part, the present invention enables a display function to be effectively performed in the rest of the display region except the partially covered display region.

The present invention relates to a mobile terminal and a method of controlling the same. The mobile terminal of the present invention includes a first body equipped with a first display unit and a user input unit, a second body equipped with a second display unit and coupled to the first body in a sliding manner, and a controller that controls at least one of display of an image and display of a control menu with respect to at least one of the first and second display units according to a distance where the second body slides from a position where the second body has slid down to the first body. According to the present invention, at least one of display of an image and display of a control menu can be controlled in response to a distance where the second body slides.
