Abstract:
Disclosed is a test paper for detection of diabetic nephropathy, which includes a water-absorbing filter paper, a glass fiber membrane and a NC membrane, all of which are stacked successively from top to bottom. The test paper has a T1 testing region, a T2 testing region and a T3 reference region arranged along a transverse direction; the NC membrane is coated by urinary microalbumin antibodies in the T1 testing region, is coated by urinary haptoglobin antibodies in the T2 testing region and is coated by mouse anti-human IgG antibodies in the T3 reference region; and the glass fiber membrane is coated by urinary microalbumin labeled with colloidal gold in the T1 testing region, is coated by urinary haptoglobin labeled with colloidal gold in the T2 testing region and is coated by mouse anti-human IgG albumen labeled with colloidal gold in the T3 reference region.
Abstract:
A cartridge and method for conducting a labeled molecular affinity binding test such as antibody/antigen, ligand/receptor, and colorometric reactions, and other chemical reactions for which one or more analytes is present in a liquid sample formate. A progressive compression structure progressively forces a liquid flow out of a conjugate pad toward a reaction region to more thoroughly and rapidly mix the liquid, encouraging specific first affinity binding to the analytes in question. A specially dimensioned constricting passageway surrounding the reaction region including the result zones provides an additional siphoning force to the flow. These combined forces rapidly and more evenly guide the flow of liquid through the reaction region so that the rushed rate of uptake of analytes at the strip lines are more evenly distributed, adhesive attachment of non-specific molecules is largely avoided, vastly improving sensitivity and specificity, and providing quantitative results in some tests.
Abstract:
Methods and systems for colorimetrically analyzing a liquid medium by analyzing chemical test strip images are provided. The liquid medium can be industrial water in an industrial water system. Image analyzing software carries out the analysis. The results of the analysis can be used to diagnosing a chemical treatment regimen of the industrial water system. A chemical test strip holder can be used to enhance reliability and repeatability of the imaging process and/or subsequent analysis.
Abstract:
A multi-layered laminated test strip detector for formaldehyde is described which simplifies significantly the qualitative detection and quantitative determination of formaldehyde in aqueous solution or on the surface of wet solids. Layers of water soluble polymer are used to separate chemical reagents that otherwise will not be stable, and/or encapsulate the chemical reagents on bibulous material. Introducing the sample or wetting the detector through holes in a laminated encapsulating envelope permits the aqueous sample to dissolve the solid barrier when the sample is introduced and contact the reagents and the analyte, thereby forming color on the back side of the detector.
Abstract:
This disclosure provides a workflow method and system associated with a paper-based sensor. Specifically, provided is a paper-based sensor workflow including printing of customized security sensing information and bio-reagents to produce a paper-based sensor, applying a test material, such as, but not limited to, blood, to the paper-based sensor, capturing an image of the paper-based sensor and performing a colorimetric process; and performing one or more analytics to produce results associated with the test material
Abstract:
The present invention involves extracting from Legionella bacteria, particularly L. pneumophila bacteria, an essentially protein-free O-polysaccharide or carbohydrate antigen, coupling this antigen to an activated chromatographic column through a protein space molecule which is first conjugated to the antigen, utilizing the column thus prepared for the affinity purification of raw polyvalent antibodies to the same Legionella bacterium from which the O-polysaccharide or carbohydrate antigen was separated—thereby obtaining antigen-specific antibodies which are useful for the rapid detection of the corresponding Legionella bacterium or its antibody in human bodily fluids such as urine, sputum, blood and the like or in environmental samples suspected of harboring theLegionella bacterium.
Abstract:
This disclosure concerns materials for detecting and removing gaseous chemical agents (e.g., cyanide, cyanogen, sulfide, nitrite, nitric oxide, and combinations thereof), devices including the materials, and methods of making and using the disclosed materials. Embodiments of the disclosed materials include a support material impregnated with cobinamide and/or a cobinamide derivative.
Abstract:
A species test wand for liquids, wherein a user is informed whether the concentration of a species is high, at an acceptable level, or low by a comparison of the color of the wand after exposure to the liquid with nearby labeled colored boxes integral with the wand, is described. Tests include liquid evaluation for chlorine, pH and total alkalinity, as examples.
Abstract:
A device which collects specimen fluids or performs chemical or biological assays of the specimen fluid is provided with a specimen fluid receiver and a fluid actuated expandable trigger coupled to receive specimen fluid from the specimen fluid receiver such that a predetermined delay occurs before the trigger expands sufficiently to move another component of the device, and the specimen fluid interacts with a substance during the delay. The trigger is made of a material which expands substantially upon absorbing specimen fluid, and it is mounted and positioned so as to contact and move the other component of the device upon expanding through the absorption of specimen fluid. The other component may contain a surface coupled to receive specimen fluid from the specimen fluid receiver and the surface has an area which contains a substance which interacts with the specimen fluid.
