摘要: The invention pertains to a hopper loader apparatus for separating and forming an overlapping shingled stream of individual signatures of sheet materials from a vertically aligned, parallelepiped shaped stack of such signatures for subsequent handling operations. The hopper-loader has a chassis; a first continuous, downwardly inclined planar conveyor mounted on the chassis which moves a stack of vertically aligned signatures and deposits them onto a second conveyor as a separated, shingled stream of the signatures. The second conveyor is mounted on the chassis and aligned with an end of the first conveyor. It has a plurality of driven belts which travel over each of an upwardly inclined planar ramp segment, an arched transition segment, and a planar exit segment. The arched transition segment comprises either a belt slide or a plurality of serially arranged rollers.

摘要: In order to accommodate either a loose lift of signatures or, alternatively, a signature log for the purpose of stream feeding a supply of signatures to a packer box on a binding line in an effective and efficient manner, a signature stream feeding apparatus is disclosed which includes an upstream conveyor, an intermediate conveyor, and a down stream conveyor. The upstream conveyor receives and supports signatures in a generally upright position on the fore edges or backbones thereof, and it is downwardly inclined relative to the horizontal in the direction of signature travel therealong. The intermediate conveyor then receives the signatures from the upstream conveyor and conveys them toward the packer box, and it is inclined upwardly and away from the upstream conveyor in the direction of travel of the signatures therealong. The downstream conveyor finally receives the signatures from the intermediate conveyor and conveys them toward the packer box, and it extends between the packer box and the intermediate conveyor. By utilizing an upstream conveyor, an intermediate conveyor, and a downstream conveyor having these characteristics, the conveyors may be controlled to transform the signatures into a shingled stream at the intermediate conveyor and into a thinner shingled stream at the downstream conveyor at a point in advance of the signatures reaching the packer box on the binding line.

摘要: At every chain (4) of the chain conveyor (3), there are arranged a vane element (6) and a clamp member (7) in the shape of a double arm lever, one arm of which affords engagement with the vane element (6), while another's roller (11) moves on/off a cam or pattern-copy-device (13) along the path of the chain (4) travel next to the product folding apparatus. Between the clamp member (7) and the vane element (6) a compartment or pocket (15) is formed to receive the printed product (1). As the chain (4) continues its movement, the roller (11) engaged with the cam (13) bears upon the element (7), and thereby the printed product (1) is held and the by-the-piece conveyance of the printed products is ensured.

摘要: A method and device for feeding signatures on to a fixed horizontal saddle of an input conveyor to a sewing machine; whereby the signatures, arranged with the backs facing rearwards, lying in respective vertical planes parallel to the fixed saddle, and separated by a distance of less than the maximum width of the signatures, are fed along a conveyor sloping downwards in the travelling direction of the input conveyor; the signatures being fed in an oblique direction in relation to the backs; each signature having a top corner projecting laterally from the stream of signatures travelling along the conveyor, which corner is engaged by a number of suction type parting heads located along, and moving reciprocatingly in the travelling direction of the signatures along the conveyor; and the signatures being so fed to an accelerating device designed to successively withdraw the signatures off the conveyor, and transfer the same, now parted, on to the fixed saddle; the parted front corner of each signature being guided, during transfer, by a fixed curved supporting plate, and being the first to engage the fixed saddle.

摘要: The apparatus comprises two parallel and spaced apart conveyor belts and a toothed take-along belt guided parallel to and interposed between the two conveyor belts. The take-along belt has a thickened or otherwise rigidified section providing an engagement region. The belt runs at constant speed, faster than the conveyors. The engagement region runs slightly beneath the conveying surface of the conveyors until it reaches an engagement location, at which it may halt and then be instantaneously raised and restarted in response to a signal indicating an adjacent batch or leaves to lift the leaves off the conveyor belt and cause them to be moved with greater velocity than the conveyor belts to the delivery end thereof where they are stacked.

摘要: A driven winding core member is elevationally displaceable and a supply spool member serves for the delivery or reception, as the case may be, of a winding band which can be wound-up with the flat structures or can be unwound in conjunction with the flat structures. A conveyor device serves for the infeed or outfeed of the flat structures which are to be respectively wound-up on or wound-off from the winding core member. Between the conveyor device and the winding core member, there is provided a conveyor band arrangement which either infeeds the flat structures and the winding band or outfeeds such flat sturctures and the winding band. To reduce the space requirements of the apparatus and to simplify driving thereof and still afford a faultless winding-up and winding-off or unwinding operation, the conveyor band arrangement is designed as a freely revolving structure and, under resilient or spring action, partially wraps about the winding core member or, as the case may be, the package located thereupon. The drive elements for the winding core member protrude from a substantially vertically guided displaceable carriage or slide member which can be selectively raised and lowered, i.e., elevationally displaced, by an elevational or lift drive controllable as a function of the momentary position of the conveyor band arrangement.

摘要: Continuously conveyed flexible flat structures, especially printed products, infed in an imbricated formation, are turned such as to retain their original imbricated product formation. This is accomplished by accelerating the flexible flat structures such that they are singled and then in such singled condition are deflected about a deflection axis directed transverse to the product infeed conveying direction. Thereafter the singled turned flat structures are decelerated and transported away in an opposite conveying direction. Between an infeed device and an outfeed device for the structures there is arranged a deflection mechanism comprising at least one endless revolving driven traction element guided between its two substantially linearly extending runs about a deflection wheel. This traction element has mutually spaced outwardly extending carrier or support elements, at the outer ends of which there are mounted controlled grippers for engaging a respective one of the flat structures. The acceleration and deceleration of the controlled grippers and thus the flat structures respectively occurs during the run-on and run-off of the traction element at the deflection wheel, because then the outer ends of the outwardly protruding carrier or support elements carrying the grippers describe a substantially arcuate-shaped path which is appreciably longer than the wrapping path of the traction element about the deflection wheel.
