摘要： A low pressure beverage preparation system for automatically preparing a range of beverage types from a range of beverage cartridges, the system comprising: a beverage preparation machine; and a plurality of beverage cartridges, each beverage cartridge containing one or more beverage ingredients associated with a specific beverage type, wherein the beverage preparation system comprises: a. means for receiving one of said plurality of beverage cartridges in said beverage preparation machine and means for supplying, in use, to said beverage cartridge an aqueous medium at a pressure of less than 2 bar to produce a beverage from the one or more beverage ingredients contained therein; b. a reader in said beverage preparation machine for automatically interpreting a code written on said beverage cartridge; c. processing means for creating a specific brewing cycle based on said code; d. means for automatically adjusting a temperature of said aqueous medium based on said code prior to supply of said aqueous medium to the beverage cartridge; e. means in at least some of said plurality of beverage cartridges for optionally, dependant on beverage type, producing foaming of the beverage; and f. a user interface for initiating an operating cycle; wherein the beverage preparation system can produce a range of beverage types including at least, but not limited to, filtered coffee, cappuccino, tea, chocolate and frothed milk, and wherein operation of the user interface is independent of the beverage type being dispensed.

摘要： The present invention relates to a capsule containing a substance for the preparation of a beverage that is designed to be extracted by injection of a fluid under pressure. The capsule comprises a closed chamber containing the substance with at least part of the closed chamber including a retaining part made of a flexible membrane. One or more raised elements that face the membrane are associated with and forming part of the capsule. These element(s) are used to open the capsule due to a buildup of pressure therein. This rise in pressure causes relative engagement of the raised element(s) with the membrane until the membrane ruptures or is torn to release the formed beverage from the chamber. As the liquid of the beverage does not come into contact with the machine, hygiene is improved and cross-contamination is reduced when preparing a beverage from the capsule.

摘要： The beverage machine for preparing a hot beverage by brewing and extracting a substance received in a cartridge is provided with a brewing chamber comprising a lower brewing chamber portion and a closure element. The lower portion of the brewing chamber serves for positively receiving of the cartridge. On both the lower brewing chamber portion and the closure element, piercing elements are provided for piercing the cartridge at opposite sides thereof. Upon closing the brewing chamber, the lower portion thereof, together with the cartridge received therein, is axially moved relative to the closure member to such an extent that the cover of the cartridge is pierced by means of the one piercing member. The bottom of the cartridge is pierced by the other piercing member only to such an extent that the tip of the piercing member penetrates the bottom of the cartridge, without a beverage outlet channel provided in the other piercing element being connected to the interior of the cartridge.
