Abstract:
A changeable message sign structure has a front panel assembly and rear, top, bottom and left and right end panels which define a hollow sign interior. The front panel assembly has a frame with upper, lower and left and right side frame members. At least two vertical support members are attached to the upper and lower frame members. The vertical support members each have a generally T-shaped cross-section with a rearwardly extending stem and left and right arms, each with arm flanges extending rearwardly to define securement slots between the arm flanges and the stem. At least one panel web assembly has frontwardly extending side flanges engaged within a securement slot of each of two neighbouring vertical support members. A web assembly support structure is pressed against the at least one panel web assembly and removably attached to the rearwardly extending stems of two neighbouring vertical support members. At least one changeable message electronic sign module is attached to the web assembly support structure. In another aspect, the invention relates to a method of changing a panel web assembly in the sign structure. The method has the steps of, from the interior of the sign structure, detaching the removably attached web assembly support structure from the rearwardly extending stems of two neighbouring vertical support members, removing an exposed panel web assembly from its position against the arms, positioning a panel web assembly against the arms, pressing the web assembly support structure against the positioned panel web assembly and removably attaching same to the rearwardly extending stems.
Abstract:
A mobile telephone for displaying graphically enhanced images. The mobile station has a display for displaying images as directed by a processor. At the user's request a displayed image will be graphically enhanced using an algorithm that takes into account audio inputs being received by the mobile station, either though its normal voice microphone or though another dedicated to this function. The audio input may also be input received previously and stored, and may have been received from another device for the purpose of sharing the visualization experience. The graphically enhanced image is displayed for the user's entertainment and changes as the audio input changes. The image itself may have been captured by the mobile station if it is capable of doing so, or it may have been received over the Internet or another network, or selected from a collection stored on the mobile station itself.
Abstract:
An electromagnetically operated, linearly sliding shutter is provided for a light source emanating from a fiber optic light guide, used for example, in a variable display such as those providing information to motorists on highways. For such a display a plurality of shutters in an array is provided with individual shutters being operable under computer control to occlude or allow passage of light in a predetermined pattern. The shutter may include a base unit having bores to hold the end of the fiber optic guide and control electromagnetic coils, and a shutter unit having a slide movable into and out of the path of light from the guide. The shutter unit may be sealed against entry of dust and dirt.
Abstract:
The invention concerns light emitting diode clusters assembly suitable for use in outdoor displays. The cluster on a circuit board is housed in a first socket open to its front and nested in an outer connector socket. Electrical wiring runs from the rear of the first socket via the connector socket to a source of electricity. The connector socket provides weather proofing and protects the circuit board from torque. Moreover, driver circuits of a display board into which the assembly is connected may be shielded from ultraviolet rays. A tubular visor may be provided to the front.
