    Abstract: A first playback stream presentation intended for reproduction on a first audio reproduction system and transform parameters may be received and decoded. The second playback stream presentation may be intended for reproduction on headphones. The transform parameters may be applied to an intermediate playback stream presentation to obtain the second playback stream presentation. The intermediate playback stream presentation may be the first playback stream presentation, a downmix of the first playback stream presentation, or an upmix of the first playback stream presentation. A cross-talk-cancelled signal may be obtained by processing the second playback stream presentation with a cross-talk cancellation algorithm. The cross-talk-cancelled signal may be processed by a dynamic equalization or gain stage wherein an amount of equalization or gain may be dependent on a level of the first playback stream presentation or the second playback stream presentation.

    Abstract: Methods and systems for designing binaural room impulse responses (BRIRs) for use in headphone virtualizers, and methods and systems for generating a binaural signal in response to a set of channels of a multi-channel audio signal, including by applying a BRIR to each channel of the set, thereby generating filtered signals, and combining the filtered signals to generate the binaural signal, where each BRIR has been designed in accordance with an embodiment of the design method. Other aspects are audio processing units configured to perform any embodiment of the inventive method. In accordance with some embodiments, BRIR design is formulated as a numerical optimization problem based on a simulation model (which generates candidate BRIRs) and at least one objective function (which evaluates each candidate BRIR), and includes identification of a best one of the candidate BRIRs as indicated by performance metrics determined for the candidate BRIRs by each objective function.

    Abstract: Example embodiments disclosed herein relate to audio signal processing. The audio signal has multiple audio objects. A method of processing an audio signal is disclosed. The method includes obtaining an object position for each of the audio objects; and determining cluster positions for grouping the audio objects into clusters based on the object positions, a plurality of object-to-cluster gains, and a set of metrics. The metrics indicate a quality of the cluster positions and a quality of the object-to-cluster gains, each of the cluster positions is a centroid of a respective one of the clusters, and one of the object-to-cluster gains defines a ratio of the respective audio object in one of the clusters. The method also includes determining the object-to-cluster gains based on the object positions, the cluster positions and the set of metrics; and generating a cluster signal based on the determined cluster positions and object-to-cluster gains. Corresponding system and computer program product are also disclosed.
