Abstract:
A baseboard radiator (10) for use in perimeter heating has a heating coil (11), a chassis (25) and a cover (23). The heating coil (11) has at least one fin (12), defining a front edge (13), a rear edge (14), an upper edge (15) and a lower edge (16) of the heating coil (11). The lower edge (16) has front (21) and rear (22) notches formed therein. The chassis (25) engages with the rear notch (22) and extends from the lower edge (16) over the rear edge (14) and the upper edge (15). The chassis (25) is further adapted for mounting the radiator (10) on a wall (28). The cover (23) engages with the front notch (21) and extends from the lower edge (16) over the front edge (13) and the upper edge (15) to engage between the chassis (25) and the wall (28).
Abstract:
The present disclosure relates to a money handling apparatus including: a money storage unit configured to store money; a locking unit configured to limit access to the money storage unit; and a control unit configured to give unlock permission to unlock the locking unit to at least one of a plurality of qualified persons who are qualified to unlock the locking unit, and to perform a process involving change of the qualified person.
Abstract:
A device for a cup to be received in the cotyl of a hip. The device includes an insert, a gripping means for gripping the insert, a rod for imparting shock, and an impaction head having a surface in contact with a portion of the insert. The rod for imparting shock is designed to be held by a surgeon and is used for the application of an impaction shock to the insert when held by the gripping means opposite the cup to be introduced into the cotyl of a hip. The impaction head having a surface in contact with a portion of said insert and the rod are connected to one another so as form a head and rod assembly joined in rotation. The head and rod assembly is mounted pivotably at a pivot point in relation to the gripping means.
Abstract:
A thermosensitive recording material comprising a support; an insulating layer that includes a porous polymeric pigment; and an image-forming layer.
Abstract:
Flavonoid compounds may be prepared that are selective for certain cell organelles, and may be used as biological imaging agents. Organelles that may be imaged with flavonoid compounds include mitochondria and lysosomes. Advantageously, the flavonoids show specificity to certain organelles and may exhibit a florescence “turn-on” mechanism, where the flavonoids that have target an organelle exhibit a florescence response when excited.
Abstract:
An apparatus for fabricating a stretch film roll includes a device configured to fold a stretch film web to yield a folded stretch film web comprising at least one longitudinal band of increased thickness, with each band of increased thickness being spaced from the longitudinal edges of the folded stretch film web, and a driven winding shaft for winding the folded stretch film web.
Abstract:
A ballistic material utilizes a three-dimensional, square-based pyramid unit cell (SBPUC) sphere structure that includes four base spheres and a primary sphere, which are tightly packed and in contact with each other. The base spheres and the primary sphere are arranged whereby the centers of each of the base spheres form corners of a square base, while the center of the primary sphere forms an apex, which when connected to the corners, forms an imaginary pyramid. The ballistic material is formed from one or more layers of SBPUCs that are provided between a pair of spaced substrate layers, so as to achieve the desired level of ballistic protection performance.
Abstract:
A laminated wood and encapsulated railroad tie structure and its associated method of manufacture. A wood core of laminated wood slats is inserted into an extruded sleeve of scrap tire rubber and polyurethane. A urethane adhesive laminates the wood slats together and serves as a lubricant and bonding agent for placement and secured engagement of the sleeve about the core. End caps are securely engaged at each end of the composite sleeve, being secured to both the wood or other natural fiber core and sleeve. Longitudinal grooves or slots for engagement with a railroad bed characterize the bottom and side surfaces of the sleeve. The core may be provided with bores and grooves to receive sensors and conductors interconnected with a processor and transponder maintained in an end cap. The end case also maintains a photovoltaic device and power source for the active elements of the railroad tie structure. The core may also be manufactured of a wood or other natural fiber giving the core a desired flex modulus to provide for better control and serviceability of associated rails and railway cars.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to an optical film comprising a substrate on which an array of structures is formed, wherein a material having a different refractive index, absorbancy or reflectivity from that of a surface of the structures is partially coated on the surface of the structures, and a manufacturing method thereof. Specifically, the optical film according to one embodiment of the present invention may have a different transparency depending on the direction or can transmit light asymmetrically. Further, the optical film may be applicable to image devices, which need to change brightness or images depending on the angle of view or to display three-dimensional images.
Abstract:
The invention is directed to quantum dot nanoparticles and methods of preparation. Using regioselective dendritic functionalized cellulose, quantum dots may be embedded in the modified cellulosic material. The quantum dot nanoparticles provide use for biotechnology or biomedicinal applications. Photooptical properties and morphology for use in as well as its biocompatibility were investigated.
