    Abstract: A device for providing a fiducial marker(s) within or near a target tissue (e.g. nodule, tumor or other) within a patient. The present teachings provide a system that includes a handle device, a catheter having a proximal end and a distal end, wherein the proximal end of the catheter is coupled to the handle device, and a monolithic material slidably received within the catheter. The monolithic material includes a stylet comprising a proximal end and a distal end, a fiducial marker having a proximal end and a distal end, and a failure section that mechanically couples the distal end of the stylet to the proximal end of the fiducial marker. The fiducial marker is configured to transition from having a first shape state inside the catheter to having a second shape state upon expulsion from the distal end of the catheter. The failure section is configured to mechanically fail in response to experiencing a heat value greater than a predefined threshold.

    Abstract: A composition of a biological sample, such as tissue of a patient, can be estimated during an ablation procedure. A composition detector system can include a probe, an illumination source, and a spectrometer. A distal end of a probe can convey mechanical, acoustical, or ultrasonic energy to the tissue to ablate the tissue. The probe can extend through a working channel of a viewing scope. An illumination source can illuminate a portion of the tissue at the distal end of the probe or as the portion is being evacuated and collected for disposal. The illumination can generate response illumination from the portion of the tissue. The spectrometer can receive the response illumination, analyze the response illumination, and provide an estimate of the composition of the portion of tissue.

    Abstract: A forceps includes jaws, a first shaft having a first slot, a second shaft extending along the first shaft and having a second slot, and a rod that extends along the second shaft. The rod has a third slot including a locking portion and a guide track portion. A pin extends through the first slot, the second slot, and the third slot to prevent deployment of the rod when the pin is in the locking portion and to permit deployment of the rod when the pin is in the guide track portion. A first actuator produces relative movement of the first and second shafts to move the jaws relative to each other and move the pin from the locking portion to the guide track portion of the third slot. A second actuator produces movement of the rod to deploy the rod when the pin is in the guide track portion.

    Abstract: An endoscope can comprise a proximal section, an insertion section extending longitudinally from the proximal section and comprising an elongate tubular body disposed along an insertion section longitudinal axis and a lumen extending through the elongate tubular body, and a distal section extending from the insertion section and comprising an elevator portion comprising an elevator configured to position and orient one or more endotherapy tools extending from the lumen, and a camera module comprising an illumination unit and an imaging unit. The camera module can be positioned longitudinally spaced apart from the elevator portion in an in-line configuration, such that the insertion tube longitudinal axis passes through the elevator portion and the camera module. The camera module can be user-detachable from the elevator portion. The camera module can be cleaned and sanitized for reuse and the insertion section can be disposable.

    Abstract: Disclosed embodiments include apparatuses, systems, and methods for coupling devices. In an illustrative embodiment, an apparatus includes a locking body defining an opening with a first section having a first width and a second section having a second width smaller than the first width. The locking body is slidably mountable on a first device with a first coupling to receive a second coupling having a flange with a width that is smaller than the first width and larger than the second width. A slidable mounting mechanism slidably secures the locking body on the first device. The locking body slides between an open position, in which the first section is positionable to enable the first coupling to receive the second coupling, and a closed position in which an edge of the locking body around the second section abuts the flange to prevent withdrawal of the second coupling.
