Abstract:
An optical drive with symmetrical anti-impact structure. A joint is fixed to an optical pick-up and slidably disposed on a guide bar with both ends supported by a base, and a symmetrical bumper is attached to the joint. When the bumper impacts the base, the joint does not deviate from the sliding direction thereof.
Abstract:
The present invention provides a method for initially setting a power of a radiation beam for reproducing data recorded on an optical information medium. The method, according to the invention, can be applied in an optical information reproducing apparatus to resolve the problems resulting from a decayed optical pick-up unit used for a long time. The method, according to the invention, can also be applied in a certain batch of optical pick-up units for adjustment thereof during assembling in the optical information reproducing apparatuses. For the batch of optical information pick-up units, the method of the invention can resolve the reduction of usability of the optical pick-up units resulting from discrepancy among the optical pick-up units, thus enhancing the yield rate of the optical pick-up units when being assembled.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus for broadcasting live personal performances over the Internet employs a web server to manage scheduling and broadcasting of the performances over the Internet, as well as collections and payments for products and services sold by presenters to viewers in conjunction with their performances. The server receives audio/video data from presenter operated computers through an uploaded presenter program, and relays the received audio/video data to viewer operated computers for viewing in media players invoked by their web browsers responding to an uploaded HTML document or JAVA applet. Viewers select performances to view from a program schedule provided on a webpage hosted by the web server. Both viewers and presenters are registered with the web server to facilitate payments for products and services, and their financial information stored in a secure user database.
Abstract:
A method of detecting an optical disks applied in an optical disk drive is disclosed. The optical disk drive includes a spindle motor and an optical pickup unit (OPU). The method includes steps of moving the optical pickup unit to a first position; controlling the optical pickup unit to emit a first laser beam; detecting if any to-be-read disk is loaded in the optical disk drive according to the reflection of the first laser beam, and ending the method if no to-be-read disk is loaded in the optical disk drive; moving the optical pickup unit to a second position; controlling the optical pickup unit to emit a second laser beam; and determining the scale of the to-be-read disk according to the reflection of the second laser beam.
Abstract:
A computer system includes a web client having a client based program residing on it, a firewall having a protocol proxy residing on it, and a host server having an application program and a special window manager residing on it. All communications between the protocol proxy and the application program go through the special window manager. The web client communicates with the firewall through the Internet, and the firewall communicates with the host server through a LAN. The client based program employs HTTP, and the special window manager employs a persistent connection, socket-based protocol. The protocol proxy establishes and maintains a persistent connection with the special window manager, and communicates information back and forth between the client based program and the application program through the special window manager by first protocol translating the information between HTTP and the special window manager's persistent connection, socket-based protocol.
Abstract:
A user equipment may save power by reducing certain battery draining activities when the battery power remaining in the UE fails to meet a threshold value. The UE may skip inter-radio access technology measurements to conserve battery life when the battery power in the UE fails to meet the threshold. The UE may also extend inter-radio access technology measurement periodicity when the battery power in the UE fails to meet the threshold.
Abstract:
Certain aspects of the present disclosure present methods and apparatus for selecting a power saving mode for a mobile station (MS) in a wireless network. The power saving mode may be selected based on the traffic that is observed at the MS in a predefined duration. Once low overall data traffic is observed, the device may enter a first low power state. If data traffic of a particular type (e.g., not for management or maintenance purposes) is not observed for a predetermined duration, the device may enter a second low power state (deeper than the first low power state).
Abstract:
In a mobile device for wireless communication capable of communicating on multiple radio access technologies (RATs), cell selection may be improved by reusing cell measurements for inter-RAT cell selection. This will reduce the number of cell measurements taken and improve mobile device performance. A time threshold may be used to instigate new cell measurement to prevent cell measurement data from being outdated.
Abstract:
A method, an apparatus, and a computer program product for wireless communication are provided in which a first synchronization signal to access to a Node B is transmitted; a request signal from the Node B requesting a second synchronization signal is received; and the second synchronization signal is transmitted to the Node B.
Abstract:
Handover processes in multi-carrier carrier time division-synchronous code division multiple access (TD-SCDMA) systems include a two-step handover process. When handover of a user equipment is warranted, a hard handover is performed within a source cell of the system from a first frequency to a second frequency. A baton handover is then performed from the second frequency at the source cell to the second frequency at a target cell. In another aspect, a user equipment receives an assignment of an uplink time slot at a target cell that was selected to prevent the uplink time slot from being proximal to a downlink time slot of a source cell. The user equipment then performs the inter-frequency baton handover using the uplink time slot.
