    摘要: A variable torque device for maintaining constant tension in a web of material as the web is unwound from a supply roll. The variable torque device includes a lead screw attached to the shaft of the supply roll via an appropriate gear ratio. A coil spring is located between a hub on the lead screw and a set of rings and friction pads. As the lead screw rotates, the hub translates, thus changing the displacement of the coil spring, which in turn changes the loading of the rings and friction pads. With a full supply roll the coil spring is compressed so as to create an amount of torque to create the desired web tension. As the supply roll unwinds, the rotation of the lead screw translates the hub to expand the coil spring, reducing the torque and maintaining the web tension constant.

    摘要: A fixing apparatus of the present invention is provided with (i) a roller, to which releaser gets applied (ii) a releaser applying member for applying the releaser on the roller by touching the roller while the roller is rotating, and (iii) a releaser dripping section for dripping the releaser to be applied on the roller by the releaser applying section, the fixing apparatus further including a guiding member for receiving the releaser dripped from the releaser dripping section, and for guiding, along a surface thereof, a certain amount of a total amount of the thus received releaser to a touch position at which the releaser applying member touches the roller. With this arrangement, it is possible to provide a fixing apparatus in which reduction in the amount of the releaser to be applied on the roller is avoided so as to surely prevent the toner offset and the jamming in the convey path, even if toner and/or debris is adhered, as a result of long use of the image forming apparatus, on the touch position at which the releaser applying member for applying the releaser touches the roller to which the releaser applying member applies the releaser.

The regulation blade abuts the application roller so that an extension direction of the regulation blade towards the application roller is substantially counter to a circumferential moving direction of the application roller and is provided with a chamfer at a corner between major and minor surfaces of the regulation blade at a chamfer angle of 30-70 degrees between an extension direction of the major surface and the chamfer of the regulation blade. The regulation blade abuts the application roller at an abutting angle of 30-50 degrees between the major surface and a tangent line of the application roller.

By using the oil application device, releasing oil can be applied to a thermal fixing roller uniformly. The oil application amount control layer does not peel off or is not displaced during operation, and no oil exudes during nonuse.
