    摘要: An improved marine drilling barge for use in ice-covered water is disclosed. The barge has, besides a conventional moon pool through which conventional marine drilling operations can proceed, a roughly circular polygonal hull plan, with an elevation of two truncated pyramid sections joined through their theoretical apices by a vertical walled matching polygonal section. The flat bottom of the hull, to or through which mooring lines are attached to anchor the barge, has an exterior guard member fastened thereto and surrounding the points at which the mooring lines attach or come closest to the hull. The barge is ballasted to achieve downward breaking action by the hull on the ice cover as the latter encroaches on the barge. The proportions of the hull combine with those of the guard member to ensure that the ice broken from the ice cover is deflected to avoid fouling the mooring lines while the maximum draft of the barge is no greater than 20 meters.

    摘要: In order to assist ice chunks along preferred discharge paths in a large scale ice disaggregation system employing counter-rotating twin cutters, water is pumped tangentially across the trailing edges of the counter-rotating cutters against the direction of rotation to overcome the centrifugal action which tends to cause ice jamming. Secondary hydro-jets may be employed to further urge the ice chunks away from the vessel into the open region previously cut.

    摘要: A submarine well drilling and geological exploration station includes an inner pressure hull specially configured for submerged drilling and exploration and an outer fairing hull of conventional submarine design. The pressure hull is divided by an air lock into an atmospheric pressure chamber and a superatmospheric pressure chamber. Ballast tanks are arranged so that the station may be rotated from a horizontal in-transit orientation to a vertical drilling and exploration orientation. The superatmospheric chamber permits exploration and drilling operations therein in the vertical orientation. A tandem propeller system is used to stabilize the station in position while in the vertical orientation and to propel the station from location to location while submerged in the horizontal orientation.

    摘要: Floating oil storage tank has a roof and an open bottom. Upper part of tank beneath the roof may serve as a pontoon for floating the tank when no oil is stored in it. The pontoon may house offices, equipment room, operations room, and lodgings. The tank may be secured to fixed anchors on the sea bottom or to a rotatable anchor about which the tank rotates depending upon the direction of the wind, waves, and tide. Oil may be supplied to the tank from a submarine pipe line through the rotatable anchor. Wave protectors may be carried externally of the tank, and may be either fixed or rotatable with respect to the tank. The top wall of the upstream wave protector, with respect to the direction of wave movement, may be sloped to reduce up and down movement of the tank. The tank may have internal sludge collecting and depositing means. A plurality of tanks may be bonded together and a tanker temporarily bonded to the tanks during discharge of oil into the tanker.
