    摘要: A cam-action expanding standoff connector and related method are disclosed for mounting a circuit board. The standoff connector includes a body and a plurality of mounting members having interior longitudinally-extending camming portions for engagement by a cam. A cam is configured to be positioned within the mounting members in a first position in which the mounting members are not expanded against the interior of a mounting opening and in a second position in which the cam engages the camming portions to expand the plurality of mounting members against the interior of the mounting opening. Since the camming action is horizontal only (purely radial), practically no vertical forces are applied to the circuit board and a best-fit alignment between a circuit board and heatsink can be established and maintained.

    摘要: The invention provides a system for precisely guiding the direction of a drill bit. The drill shaft has an orientation sensor that detects deviation of the drilling direction from the desired direction; the drill bit is steerable by preferentially directing flushing fluid at the drilling end; and a fluid modulation means controls the flushing in response to a signal from the orientation sensor. The invention also provides a tiltmeter for detecting deviation from vertical of the axis of rotation of a rotating shaft. A gravity-driven mechanical oscillator, for instance a pendulum, is carried by the rotating shaft, and has a natural oscillation frequency matched to the rotational frequency of the shaft; and a sensor determines the phase relationship of the oscillator relative to the angular position of the shaft, thereby producing a signal indicating the deviation of the shaft from vertical.

    摘要: A mining machine having means for sensing property variations of the materials associated with a seam of a mine. The machine comprises a member (4) which rotates about an axis A. The rotatable member mounts at least one cutter 6 spaced from the axis for cutting material from the seam. A rod (10) carried by the rotatable member is held in releasable engagement with the cutter. The rod extends to the axis of the rotatable member to conduct to the axis, strain waves which are induced by variations in cutter vibration as the cutter encounters property variations of the materials associated with the seam. A transducer (24,54) is located at the axis of the rotatable member in communication with the rod to convert the strain waves in the rod to electric signals which may be recorded or visually displayed.
