Abstract: In a method for configuring a MAC address aging time, a first device generates a first Ethernet virtual private network EVPN protocol packet. The first EVPN protocol packet includes aging time information indicating a media access control (MAC) address aging time for an EVPN. The first device sends the first EVPN protocol packet to a second device. The second device configures the MAC address aging time based on the first EVPN protocol packet.

Abstract: A method includes: A control plane of a network device obtains a first MAC entry, and sends the first MAC entry and a first identifier to a forwarding plane of the network device. The forwarding plane stores the first MAC entry in a first MAC table, and a state of the first MAC entry is set to a valid state. The forwarding plane changes the state of the first MAC entry to an invalid state after first preset duration elapses and when a first preset condition is met, and sets invalid duration for the first MAC entry. The first preset condition is that the forwarding plane does not receive traffic corresponding to a first MAC address within the first preset duration after storing the first MAC entry.

Abstract: A method, a device, and a system for deferring a switchback. A first network device sends a query packet to a second network device, detects, according to the query packet, whether a route from the second network device to a destination device is available after receiving the query packet, and when it is available, the second network device sends a query response packet to the first network device in order to trigger the first network device to switch back from a secondary route to a primary route. The technical solution provided reduces a wait-to-restore time of the switchback, ensures that service data transmitted from the first network device to the second network device can be transmitted to the destination device, and facilitates smooth transmission of the service data.

Abstract: A packet forwarding method, a device, and a system, where a first provider edge (PE) device separately sends request packets to a second PE device and a third PE device. The second PE device receives the two request packets separately using a primary pseudo wire (PW) and using a secondary PW, the third PE device, and a bypass PW, switches preferential forwarding statuses relative to the primary PW and the bypass PW to a balance state, and then, notifies the first PE device and the third PE device using a response packet. The first PE device switches preferential forwarding statuses relative to the primary PW and the secondary PW to the balance state based on the response packet. The third PE device switches a preferential forwarding status relative to the bypass PW to the balance state based on the response packet.
