Abstract: A system includes an intraoral scanner that generates a plurality of intraoral images of a dental site and a computing device. The computing device receives the plurality of intraoral images of the dental site during the intraoral scan session, registers the plurality of intraoral images together based on overlapping data of the plurality of intraoral images to generate a virtual three-dimensional (3D) model of the dental site, and fills in one or more missing areas in the virtual 3D model using data from a historical template.

Abstract: A scanning system comprises an intraoral scanner to capture scan data of a dental site and a computing device to generate a 3D rendering of the dental site. The scanner comprises one or more input devices configured to provide manual interaction with the computing device, where: a first activation of the input device(s) causes the scanning system to enter the scan mode, wherein the 3D rendering has a first visualization during the scan mode; and a second activation of the input device(s) causes the scanning system to enter an overlay mode, wherein the 3D rendering has a second visualization during the overlay mode, wherein the computing device is to present a menu comprising menu options on the display while the scanning system is in the overlay mode, and wherein the scanner is usable to select among the presented menu options.

Abstract: Described herein are methods and apparatuses to obtain an image, or a set of images, of a patient's teeth from one or more predetermined viewing angles. These methods and apparatuses may include the use an overlay comprising an outline of teeth for each predetermined viewing angle. The overlay may be used for automatically capturing, focusing and/or illuminating the teeth. Also described herein are methods and apparatuses for using a series of images of the patient's teeth including a set of predetermined views to determine if a patient is a candidate for an orthopedic procedure.

Abstract: An example method of managing medical records using multi-dimensional cryptographically-secured datastores comprises: storing digital representations of dental anatomy utilizing a two-dimensional blockchain structure includes: causing, by a computer system, a digital representation of dental anatomy to be stored at an external storage location; appending, to a first data block of an auxiliary blockchain, an identifier of the external storage location; appending, to a current data block of a main blockchain, a reference to a first data block of the auxiliary blockchain; appending, to the current data block of the main blockchain, a data item of the digital representation of dental anatomy; appending, to the current data block of the main blockchain, a reference to a preceding data block of the main blockchain; and broadcasting the current data block of the main blockchain to a plurality of blockchain nodes.

Abstract: An example method comprises: performing a first intraoral scan of an oral cavity, the oral cavity including a dentition of a patient; identifying a first digital representation of dental anatomy associated with the dentition of the patient; causing the first digital representation of dental anatomy to be stored at an external storage location; appending, to a current data block of a main blockchain, a reference to a first data block of an auxiliary blockchain; appending, to the first data block of the auxiliary blockchain, an identifier of the external storage location; appending, to the current data block of the main blockchain, a first data item of the first digital representation of dental anatomy; appending, to the current data block of the main blockchain, a reference to a preceding data block of the main blockchain; and broadcasting the current data block of the main blockchain to a plurality of blockchain nodes.

Abstract: Embodiments relate to techniques for real-time and post-scan visualization of intraoral scan data, which may include 3D images, 3D scans, 3D surfaces and/or 3D models. In one embodiment, an intraoral scanning system comprises a plurality of image sensors to periodically generate a set of intraoral two-dimensional (2D) images, wherein for each set of intraoral 2D images each image sensor of the plurality of image sensors is to generate an intraoral 2D image, and wherein relative positions and orientations of the plurality of image sensors are known. The intraoral scanning system further comprises a computing device, wherein the computing device is to perform the following for each set of intraoral 2D images: generate a combined intraoral image based on merging the set of intraoral 2D images together during scanning; and output the combined intraoral image to a display.
