Provided are a method and apparatus for displaying electronic program guide (EPG) content for a plurality of channels, wherein the method may include: displaying a main window, wherein the main window includes detailed information for a predetermined program; receiving a user input; and displaying a foreground window over at least a portion of the main window, wherein the foreground window includes a first list including program information for a current program on a predetermined channel and future programs on the predetermined channel and a second list including channel information for other channels in the plurality of channels.
Abstract:
A method for providing a graphical user interface (GUI) and an electronic device using the method are provided. The method includes forming one or more groups of GUI items other than a GUI item selected by a user, moving the GUI items in the one or more groups, and enlarging and displaying the selected item on an area formed by movement of the GUI items. Therefore, it is possible to provide a GUI which enables easy manipulation and which is displayed with superior visual effect on a screen that is relatively small in size.

The present invention relates to a method of controlling a display apparatus having a user input part to manipulate a user control menu including at least one control item. The method involves displaying the user control menu in a halftone when a user control function is selected via the user input part, and increasing a display tone of the control item by a predetermined level, which is pointed to on the user control menu via the user input part. Thus, the present invention provides a display apparatus and a control method thereof, in which a user can clearly recognize what selection is performed in a halftone user control menu.

A display apparatus and a user interface display method of the display apparatus are provided. The display apparatus classifies menu items of a service menu or an OSD menu according to the frequency of use of the menu items, generates icons corresponding to the classified menu items, and displays the icons on a screen using a user interface. Accordingly, the user can display a user interface on the screen in a preferable manner, and easily find and utilize a desired menu item.

An on-screen-display (OSD) item displaying method and a display apparatus applying the OSD item displaying method. In the method an OSD menu containing a plurality of OSD items is displayed on an OSD menu display area, and when an event occurs, an event OSD item associated with the event may be displayed using the OSD menu display area and a content display area. Therefore, the display apparatus can selectively display the OSD menu on the content display area, which enables a user to more easily recognize important information.
