Abstract:
In one embodiment, an access component of a local network edge device receives traffic, and generates a frame for the traffic that includes a remote context label that identifies an access component of the remote network edge device to which the traffic is to be forwarded upon arrival at the remote network edge device, and a virtual circuit label corresponding to a particular virtual service of the traffic. The local network edge device forwards the frame towards the remote network edge device. In another embodiment, the frame may be received at a core component of the remote network edge device, an in response to the remote context label identifying an access component of the remote network edge device, forwarded to the access component, which determines the particular virtual service, and forwards the traffic from the frame out the access component towards an endpoint for the traffic.
Abstract:
An apparatus and method for enabling interoperability of segment routing (SR) enabled nodes and LDP enabled nodes in a network domain. In one embodiment, the method may include mapping a first node identifier (ID) to a first segment ID in memory, wherein the first node ID uniquely identifies a first node within a network domain, and wherein the first node is not SR enabled. A message is generated and subsequently transmitted directly or indirectly to another node within the network domain, wherein the message comprises the first node ID mapped to the first segment ID, and wherein the other node is SR enabled.
Abstract:
An apparatus and method is disclosed for segment routing (SR) over label distribution protocol (LDP). In one embodiment, the method includes a node receiving a packet with an attached segment ID. In response, the node may attach a label to the packet. Thereafter, the node may forward the packet with the attached label and segment ID to another node via a label switched path (LSP).
Abstract:
A system and method are disclosed for generating segment routing (SR) segment lists. In one embodiment, a node receives information that identifies a path from a first node to a second node. Based on the received path, a set of segment identifiers that encodes the path is generated. A packet that is forwarded along the set of segment identifiers travels the received path.
Abstract:
An apparatus and method for path creation element driven dynamic setup of forwarding adjacencies and explicit path. In one embodiment of the method, a node receives an instruction to create a tunnel between the node and another node. The node creates or initiates the creation of the tunnel in response to receiving the instruction, wherein the tunnel comprises a plurality of nodes in data communication between the node and the other node. The node maps a first identifier (ID) to information relating to the tunnel. The node advertises the first ID to other nodes in a network of nodes.
Abstract:
An apparatus and method is disclosed for segment routing (SR). In one embodiment, the method includes a node creating a segment stack that identifies one segment calculated using a first algorithm and a second segment calculated using a second, different algorithm. The node then attaches this header to a packet and sends it to another node.
Abstract:
The present technology is directed to signaling unreachability of a network device, more specifically, a prefix of the network device in network that utilizes route summarization. A pulse trigger agent can detect an unreachability of at least one Provider Edge (PE) device in a network domain of a network and determine that a route summarization is being used within the network where the unreachability of the at least one PE device is hidden by the route summarization. A pulse distribution agent can transmit a failure message informing other PE devices of the unreachability of the at least one PE device.
Abstract:
Techniques for optimizing technologies related to network path tracing and network delay measurements are described herein. Some of the techniques may include using an IPv6 header option and/or segment identifier field of a segment list or a TLV of a segment routing header as a telemetry data carrier. The techniques may also include using an SRv6 micro-segment (uSID) instruction to indicate to a node of a network that the node is to perform one or more path tracing actions and encapsulating the packet and forward. Additionally, the techniques may include using short interface identifiers corresponding to node interfaces to trace a packet path through a network. Further, the techniques may include using short timestamps to determine delay measurements associated with sending a packet through a network. In various examples, the techniques described above and herein may be used with each other to optimize network path tracing and delay measurement techniques.
Abstract:
In one embodiment, a method by an apparatus of a Border Gateway Protocol-Link State (BGP-LS) environment includes receiving an attestation token from a first component and encoding the attestation token in a BGP-LS signaling message. The method further includes sending the BGP-LS signaling message with the encoded attestation token to a second component of the BGP-LS environment.
Abstract:
The present disclosure provides a packet tracing mechanism will be described that provides packet tracing information to a mobile network controller. In one aspect, a method includes receiving a data packet sent from a source node to a destination node; determining if the data packet is to be updated with packet tracing information; and upon determining that the data packet is to be updated, updating the packet tracing information of the data packet to include identification of the network device and an ingress timestamp of the data packet at the network device for a corresponding network controller to determining network routing policies.
