Abstract: A network analytics system can receive first sensor data, including first network activity and a first timestamp associated with a first clock of a first node, and second sensor data, including second network activity and a second timestamp associated with a second clock of a second node. The system can determine a first delta between the first clock and a third clock based on the first timestamp, and a second delta between the second clock and the third clock. The system can determine a first communication latency associated with a first sensor of the first node, and a second communication latency associated with a second sensor of the second node. The system can generate a report that synchronizes one or more data flows between the first node and the second node based on the first delta, the second delta, the first communication latency, and the second communication latency.

Abstract: An application and network analytics platform can capture comprehensive telemetry from servers and network devices operating within a network. The platform can discover flows running through the network, applications generating the flows, servers hosting the applications, computing resources provisioned and consumed by the applications, and network topology, among other insights. The platform can generate various models relating one set of application and network performance metrics to another. For example, the platform can model application latency as a function of computing resources provisioned to and/or actually used by the application, its host's total resources, and/or the distance of its host relative to other elements of the network. The platform can change the model by moving, removing, or adding elements to predict how the change affects application and network performance. In some situations, the platform can automatically act on predictions to improve application and network performance.

Abstract: Systems, methods, and computer-readable media for flow stitching network traffic flow segments at a middlebox in a network environment. In some embodiments, flow records of traffic flow segments at a middlebox in a network environment are collected. The flow records can include transaction identifiers assigned to the traffic flow segments. Sources and destinations of the traffic flow segments with respect to the middlebox can be identified using the flow records. Further, the traffic flow segments can be stitched together to form a plurality of stitched traffic flows at the middlebox based on the transaction identifiers and the sources and destinations of the traffic flow segments in the network environment with respect to the middlebox. A configuration of the middlebox operating in the network environment can be identified based on the stitched traffic flows at the middlebox in the network environment.

Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for automatically discovering applications/clusters in a network and mapping dependencies between the applications/clusters. A network monitoring system can capture network flow data using sensors executing on physical and/or virtual servers of the network and sensors executing on networking devices connected to the servers. The system can determine a graph including nodes, representing at least the servers, and edges, between pairs of the nodes of the graph indicating the network flow data includes one or more observed flows between pairs of the servers represented by the pairs of the nodes. The system can determine a dependency map, including representations of clusters of the servers and representations of dependencies between the clusters, based on the graph. The system can display a first representation of a first cluster of the dependency map and information indicating a confidence level of identifying the first cluster.

Abstract: A monitoring device/module monitors a plurality of nodes in a data center network, and determines one or more latency distributions of response times for messages exchanged between pairs of nodes of the plurality of nodes. The network monitoring device determines a network topology, including one or more communication links interconnecting nodes of the plurality of nodes, consistent with the one or more latency distributions. The network monitoring device also determines a representative response time for each communication link based on the one or more latency distributions, and compares a current response time a message exchanged between one pair of nodes to the representative response time for the communication link interconnecting the one pair of nodes. The network monitoring device identifies a network anomaly when the current response time deviates from the representative response time for the communication link interconnecting the one pair of nodes by a threshold amount.

Abstract: The technology visualizes data flows within a datacenter in an interactive hierarchical network chord diagram. Based on analyzed data describing data flows, a portion of the data flows that originate at the same first endpoint and terminate at the same second endpoint can be grouped. Subsequently, the dataflow monitoring system displays an interactive hierarchical network chord diagram to include a chord with a first endpoint and a second endpoint. The chord represents the grouped portion of data flows that originate at the same first endpoint and terminate at the same second endpoint. Upon receiving a selection of the chord or the first endpoint of the chord, the dataflow monitoring system expands the grouped portion of the data flows into a more granular representation of the network.
