Abstract: A method of wireless communication by a UE (user equipment) includes receiving group-common downlink control information (DCI) indicating coverage-enhancements including channel state information (CSI) report settings for a group of UEs and/or PDCCH repetition. The method also includes reporting CSI in accordance with the coverage-enhanced CSI report settings, which may include report repetition. A method of wireless communication by a base station includes transmitting group-common downlink control information (DCI) indicating coverage-enhanced channel state information (CSI) report settings and/or PDCCH repetition for a group of UEs. The method also includes receiving CSI reports from the group of UEs in accordance with the group-common DCI.

Abstract: Orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing (OFDM) numerologies that maintain symbol boundary alignment while distributing excess cyclic prefixes (CPs) among OFDM symbols. Communication is established using a first sub-carrier spacing (SCS) and a first OFDM numerology, such as an exemplary numerology that distributes excess CP duration among a set of symbols that occupy a time interval within or equal to a corresponding time interval of a symbol of a second OFDM numerology with a second lower SCS. The first SCS may be, e.g., 960 kHz. The second SCS may be, e.g., 120 kHz. Another exemplary OFDM numerology described herein distributes the excess CP as prefix and postfix portions to one of the symbols, such as the first symbol of a set. Communication then proceeds using the first OFDM numerology at the first SCS and, in illustrative examples, using the second OFDM numerology at the second SCS or other OFDM numerologies at other SCSs.

A method that may be performed by a network entity includes determining resources to monitor for a PRACH transmission sent from a user equipment (UE) as part of a random access channel (RACH) procedure, performing receive beam sweeping when receiving PRACH repetitions sent using the determined resources, using results of the receive beam sweeping to refine one or more beams and to select a refined beam of the refined one or more beams, and using the selected refined beam for at least one of receiving a subsequent message from the UE as part of the RACH procedure or sending a subsequent message to the UE as part of the RACH procedure.

Abstract: This disclosure provides methods, devices and systems for random access procedures and beam refinement for wireless communications. A base station may repeat a transmission of a random access message 2 to a user equipment (UE) on a plurality of physical downlink control channel (PDDCH) candidates to improve reception of the random access message 2 and provide for selection of a refined beam. The UE may receive the random access message 2 on the plurality of repeated PDCCH candidates during a random access response window. The UE may select an offset based on a strongest of the plurality of PDCCH candidates. The UE may transmit a random access message 3 on resources indicated by the random access message 2 that are time shifted by the offset. The base station may select a beam for transmitting a random access message 4 based on the offset.

Abstract: Methods and apparatuses described herein provide a physical downlink control channel (PDCCH) candidate hopping function that reduces collisions between PDCCH candidates, particularly between PDCCH candidates associated with reduced capability user equipment (UE). For example, the hopping function may be implemented as part of a PDCCH candidate to control channel element (CCE) function or may be applied separately from the PDCCH candidate to CCE function. The hopping function may reduce persistent collisions between PDCCH candidates by correlating the mapping behavior with a value that changes over time. Some techniques and apparatuses described herein provide signaling for configuration and activation/deactivation/modification of the hopping pattern. Thus, collisions between PDCCH candidates are reduced, thereby conserving computing resources and wireless communication resources. Furthermore, the reduction of collisions may improve performance of UEs with reduced PDCCH capabilities, such as reduced-capability UEs. Numerous other aspects are provided.
