Abstract: A method, an apparatus, and a computer program product for wireless communication are provided. The apparatus may receive a primary synchronization signal (PSS) and a secondary synchronization signal (SSS) in a first set of symbols of a first subframe of a frame. Within the first set of symbols of the first subframe, the SSS is prior to the PSS. The apparatus may also receive the PSS and the SSS in a first set of symbols of a second subframe of the frame and a second set of symbols of the second subframe of the frame. Within each of the first and second sets of symbols of the second subframe, the SSS is subsequent to the PSS. The apparatus may synchronize with a base station based at least in part on the PSS and the SSS.

Abstract: Various features related to eMTC-U deployment are described. In an aspect of the disclosure, an apparatus (e.g., a base station) maybe configured to select a subset of non-anchor channels from a set of available non-anchor channels, where the subset of non-anchor channels may correspond to a bandwidth within an unlicensed band. The apparatus maybe further configured to transmit information indicating the subset of non-anchor channels via an anchor channel. In some configurations, the subset of non-anchor channels maybe selected based on channel measurements performed by the base station or a UE. In one aspect, a UE may receive, from a base station via an anchor channel, information indicating a subset of non-anchor channels selected from a set of available non-anchor channels. The UE may transmit data on one or more non-anchor channel of the subset of non-anchor channels.

Abstract: Certain aspects of the present disclosure relate to methods and apparatus for monitoring paging occasions. In one example, a mobile communication device defines a paging frame window (PFW) for a duration of time on a hop frequency or narrow band of frequencies indicated by a paging formula, and periodically wakes up to monitor the PFW for a page message. In another example, the mobile device receives a frame structure information at the start of a frame.

Abstract: The extension of NB-IoT and eMTC communications into the unlicensed spectrum introduces a number of problems associated with channel quality measurement and reporting. A method, apparatus, and computer readable medium are presented that provide a technique for channel quality measurement and reporting that addressed such problems. A UE apparatus measures a CQI measurement for each of a plurality of groups of hopping frequencies, wherein a set of hopping frequencies is grouped into the plurality of groups and reports a CQI for each of the plurality of groups. A base station may configure the UE for CQI reporting and may receive a CQI for each of a plurality of groups of hopping frequencies, wherein a set of hopping frequencies is grouped into the plurality of groups. The set of hopping frequencies comprise frequencies in an unlicensed spectrum.

Abstract: In an embodiment, an apparatus (e.g., eNB) pages UEs on a shared communication. The apparatus obtains paging message(s) for transmission to UEs with different coverage levels. The apparatus transmits an extended common ePDCCH, followed by a paging ePDCCH, followed by repetitive transmissions of the paging message(s) over a plurality of PDSCH subframes. In a further embodiment, the apparatus obtains first and second sets of paging messages for transmission to different paging groups. The apparatus establishes non-overlapping POWs for the first and second paging groups to avoid a paging ePDCCH collision.
