    摘要: A rotating control device can include a bearing housing, an inner mandrel rotatably supported in the bearing housing, and a barrier having upper and lower portions, the upper portion being secured against rotation relative to the inner mandrel, the lower portion being secured against rotation relative to the bearing housing, the lower portion including annular recesses, the recesses being progressively deeper in a radially outward direction. Another barrier can include upper and lower portions, the lower portion including multiple annular walls, an upper surface of each wall being inclined downward in a radially outward direction. Another barrier can include upper and lower portions, the upper and lower portions having annular walls, the upper portion walls being interdigitated with the lower portion walls, and the upper and lower portion walls being circumferentially discontinuous, whereby gaps are formed between circumferential ends of the upper and lower portion walls.

    摘要: The fluid containment system attaches to the wellhead below the rotating control device to catch fluids. The fluid containment system provides a pan below the outlet of the body in which the rotating head assembly is secured. A curtain attaches to the fluid containment system to at least partially enclose the wellhead. The curtain directs the escaped fluids to the pan. An opening in the curtain provides an outlet for the body allowing fluids within the pipe to flow from the body. Conduits attach to outlets of the pan to transfer the fluids from the pan to a tank.

    摘要: A harsh environment integrated MPD riser joint includes a dynamic annular sealing system, a static annular sealing system disposed directly below the dynamic annular sealing system, and a flow spool, or equivalent thereof, disposed directly below the static annular sealing system. The dynamic annular sealing system may be a conventional ACD-type, RCD-type, or other conventional annular sealing system. The static annular sealing system may include one or more annular packer systems and one or more connection sealing elements that engage drill pipe during connection or non-rotation operations only. The dynamic annular sealing system may maintain annular pressure during drilling operations while the static annular sealing system is disengaged. The static annular sealing system may maintain annular pressure during connection operations while the dynamic annular sealing system is disengaged. Advantageously, the static annular sealing system is capable of withstanding jarring heaving action encountered in harsh environments.

    摘要: An improved rotating control device, having a spool and removable bearing assembly, provides a self-contained hydraulic reservoir that can be operated with standard air pressures from an air hose or other readily available source, eliminating traditional surface hydraulic power units (HPUs). Hydraulically operated pistons can be spring biased to close latching elements around the bearing assembly. Hydraulic fluid can be forced from the self-contained hydraulic reservoir through flow paths to hydraulic cylinders to force the pistons to retract radially outward to release the bearing assembly for removal. The bearing assembly can include a lubricant reservoir to supply gravity-fed or pressurized lubrication for internal roller bearings. The bearing assembly can further include a rotary seal in several embodiments that efficiently reduces risks of dropping bolts on personnel and in the wellbore.
