Abstract: In some embodiments, an apparatus may include a collapsible shade formed from a semitransparent material and a housing. The housing may have a substantially cylindrical shape including a first end and a second end, and the collapsible shade may be coupled to a first end of the housing. The housing may include a light-emitting diode (LED) circuit including an LED coupled to the second end of the housing. Further, a user-selectable button may be coupled to the housing. The apparatus may also include a control circuit within the housing and coupled to the user-selectable button and to the LED circuit. The control circuit may be configured to control the LED to emit light having a selected wavelength and a selected brightness in response to selection of the user-selectable button.

Abstract: A portable and expandable solar-powered lantern that includes a light source, at least one solar panel in electrical communication with a battery to power the light source, and a self-erecting coil structure defining a frame covered by a compliant shade member. The frame includes an inner coil member coiled in a first direction relative to the longitudinal axis of the frame, and an outer coil member coiled in a second direction opposite to the first direction. The coil structure is moveable between a collapsed storage position and an expanded position, the compliant shade member limiting the length of the frame when the coil structure is in the expanded position.

Abstract: A light cover capable of adjusting the amount of light emitted is provided in the present invention. The light cover includes a cloth, a supporting frame and a binding member. The supporting frame includes three/four intersecting elastic supporting rods. A light emitting opening and a triangular/square mounting portion are formed by assembling the cloth with the three/four intersecting elastic supporting rods. The binding member is assembled with both ends of each of the three/four elastic supporting rods. By tightening the binding member around the ends of the three/four elastic supporting rods, the three/four intersecting elastic supporting rods are bent into different curvatures, thereby adjusting the size of the light emitting opening.

Abstract: A system for displaying an illuminated image which includes (1) a frame kit with interchangeable components and an assembled electric cord set and (2) a flexible sheet imprinted with an image which combine to make a unit for display of the image as on a table lamp or hanging lamp. The printed sheet is art paper or other media formed into a closed shape defined by the shape of the frame rims to which it is attached at both ends. One of the frame rims includes provision for the attachment of legs which connect the rim to a central hub, which provides support for a lamp holder. A slot is provided in the central hub so the complete electric cord set with the lamp holder attached can be inserted without disassembly. A website is set up whereby institutions or businesses can upload selected images with instructions for formatting for printing on the flexible sheet.

Abstract: A solar-powered hanging lantern includes an interchangeable shade. The article comprises a housing having an upper surface with a solar cell and a lower surface with a light source. A rechargeable battery and electronics within the housing charge the battery using the solar cell and illuminate the light source when ambient light falls to a predetermined level. The housing includes a cylindrical sidewall with a diameter and a peripheral rim extending outwardly form the cylindrical sidewall. A shade is provided having an upper, generally cylindrical opening slightly larger than the diameter of the housing, the shade being installed onto and over the housing such that the cylindrical opening rests on the peripheral rim, with an elastomeric ring being placed onto and over the housing to maintain the shade in position. The ring may be an O-ring and/or may include an inner groove to receive the opening of the shade.
