    Abstract: A pipe coupling assembly for plain end pipe of the type in which a packing ring is compressed in an internal groove by a thrust ring to squeeze it against the outer surface of the pipe and effect a seal therewith. The thrust ring is made of a plurality of accurate segments which can be economically produced and assembled in the coupling body. The segments are mechanically interlocked in the body by cooperation with other elements of the assembly to avoid separate retainer members. The segments have a configuration which avoids significant circumferential gaps in the packing compression face of the ring and reduces the necessary axial length of the groove.

    Abstract: A leak-tight non-contaminative joint, for connecting tin lined copper tubing with a tin lined coupling member, is formed by exposing the tin lining at the tube end and inserting an elastic "O"-ring between the exposed lining and the surrounding coupling, so that the fluid within the tubing and coupling does not contact any metal other than tin. A clamp for holding the coupling member and tubing together is also disclosed.

    Abstract: A pipe joint seal for coupling two adjacent ends of aligned pipe sections, the seal comprising an annular fitting member internally threaded at one end to receive a corresponding threaded end of one pipe section, and an annular resilient sealing ring having an external annular flange, the ring being carried in the bore of the fitting and being adapted for engagement with the end of the second pipe section. The ring comprises a cylindrical body portion extending on opposite sides of the flange, the body portion being for sealing engagement with the bores of the fitting and of the second pipe section such that the internal pressure of fluid carried by the pipe tends to cause radial expansion of the ring into forcible engagement with the bores. The fitting has a plurality of substantially radially extending holes in which there are received set screws, which can engage external shoulders of the second pipe section after the latter is received in the bore of the fitting, to force and maintain together the fitting and the second, unthreaded pipe section.

    Abstract: An apparatus and method for re-rounding a distorted end (e.g., oval-shaped) of a pipe for insertion into a mechanical joint fitting or pipe bell have a circular diameter. The apparatus involves two separate semi-circular members having jack bolt assemblies evenly distributed in each. The two ends of each of the semi-circular members have extensions that can be releasably coupled to join to the two members to form a circular re-rounding tool. A first semi-circular member is positioned on the maximum diameter side of the distorted pipe and the other semi-circular member is placed on the opposite side of the distorted pipe and extensions joined. With an equal number of jack bolt assemblies in each member, corresponding jack bolt assemblies in the two members are diametrically aligned forming pairs. To re-round the distorted end, pairs of these jack bolt assemblies are tightened in a “star sequence” to re-round the distorted end. The re-rounded end is inserted into the mechanical joint fitting or pipe bell and the extensions are decoupled to easily remove the circular tool from the re-rounded end.

    Abstract: A diesel fuel cross-drop prevention kit that provides a multitude of couplings and fittings designed only for a single type of fuel. The kit includes a drop-elbow coupler, a storage-tank inlet tube, a primary key slot, a primary key protrusion, a retractable pull pin, a hose, a gravity-drop tube fitting, a secondary key slot, and a secondary key protrusion. The primary key slot traverses into an internal surface of the drop-elbow coupler. The primary key protrusion is externally and laterally connected to the storage-tank inlet tube. The storage-tank inlet tube is positioned within the drop-elbow coupler with the primary key protrusion being positioned within the primary key slot. The secondary key slot traverses into a first female coupler tube of the hose. The secondary key protrusion is externally connected to the gravity-drop tube fitting. This allows the first female coupler tube to fit over the gravity-drop tube fitting.
