    Abstract: An extended range, consistent force rail brake comprising an adjustable wedge assembly operatively situated between the main power spring(s) and the brake shoe(s) for selectively taking up the vertical distance that the brake shoe is required to travel between the brake release position and an initial railhead contact position. The adjustable wedge assembly is thus selectively expandable in the vertical orientation, and may comprise: an upper block that is operatively connected, either directly or indirectly, to the power spring; a lower wedge rigidly affixed to a replaceable brake shoe; and an intermediate wedge that is located by suitable bearings and/or linkages for transverse, generally horizontal slidable engagement between the upper block and the lower wedge. Each of the upper block and lower wedge elements of the wedge assembly are, respectively, located by suitable bearings and/or linkages for generally vertical translational motion (but very little, if any, lateral or longitudinal horizontal motion) within upper and lower guides provided on a frame of the rail brake.

    Abstract: A brake including an adjustable thrust element for applying a brake force to a brake pad and an adjustment device for selectably adjusting the thrust element. The adjustment device includes a shaft having a cylindrical shaft surface, a sleeve having a cylindrical sleeve surface, wherein the shaft and the sleeve are arranged end-to-end, and a torque clutch including a wrap spring that is mounted on the cylindrical shaft surface and mounted on the cylindrical sleeve surface, the shaft including an integral drive pin for selectively rotating the shaft. The brake further includes an operating lever, wherein the drive pin extends radially directly from the shaft surface of the shaft and wherein the operating lever includes a groove that receives the drive pin.

    Abstract: A parking brake of a work vehicle has a piston near the wheel relative to an end plate in an axial direction parallel to a rotation axis of the drive shaft to move in the axial direction, a hub between the end plate and the piston in the axial direction to be connected to the drive shaft, a cylinder disposed outwardly from the hub in a radial direction relative to the rotation axis, a disk supported by the hub in an inner space defined by the end plate, the piston, the hub, and the cylinder, a separator supported by the cylinder, next to the disk in the inner space, and moved by the piston in the axial direction, a first passage connecting the inner space and an outer space, and a second passage provided outwardly from the first passage in the radial direction to connect the inner and outer spaces.
