    摘要: Apparatuses and methods are provided for cutting a traveling web of paper that is being spooled on a full spool and transferring the paper web to spool on an empty spool by driving turn-up tape into a nip between the empty spool and the paper web. The apparatuses and methods provide a more problem free way of transferring a traveling paper web to an empty spool. The apparatuses include a drive and a transfer track for transporting the tape beneath the paper web and delivering the tape into the nip, the transfer track including, a horizontal section having a front end and a back end and a first groove running the length of the horizontal section, the first groove being defined by a first top wall, a first side wall, a first bottom wall, and a first flexible seal such that the turn-up tape travels substantially vertical in the direction of travel underneath the paper web, and a turn-up section connected to the back end of the horizontal section, the turn-up section being curved upwardly from the horizontal section to a position adjacent to the empty spool, and the turn-up section having a second groove running the length of the turn-up section, the second groove being defined by a second top wall, a second side wall, a second bottom wall, and a second flexible seal, the turn-up tape traveling substantially perpendicular to the second bottom wall, whereby the drive is capable of driving the turn-up tape to the end of the transfer track. The methods including rotating an equal angle cam in contact with the turn-up tape to move the tape down the transfer track and into the nip.

    摘要: In a cross cutting device for a winding machine having at least a first carrier roll (11) wrapped by the web to be wound and a second carrier roll, both carrier rolls forming a winding bed for at least one roll (13) to be wound around a winding core (14), particularly for winding paper in form of one web or several webs in parallel, a cross cutting device to cut through the web after completion of a roll (13) is formed near the front end of a support beam (24) being conductible through a clearance gap (G) between a first and second carrier roll into a cutting position of the cross cutting device which is located at or close to the surface of said first carrier roll (11). Said support beam (24) can be pressed by means of a finished wrapped roll (13) against said wrapped first carrier roll (11). The cross cutting device, further, comprises a clamping device being conductible counter to the web running direction into the clamping position and there, overlapping the arriving web edge of the next roll to be wound, securely clamps said arriving web edge independently of the cross cutting device. Said cross cutting device being conductible back through the clearance gap (G) between said carrier rolls to its home position and after one or several new winding core or cores has/have been loaded said clamping device being detachable from the web edge and being conductible back in the web running direction to its home position.

    摘要: A track and flap assembly employs an elongate compressible foam member completely covering an elongate channel that carries a paper cutting tape. Between the bottom of the foam member and the top of the channel are one or two pivotally mounted resilient flap members that cooperate with the foam member to provide a desired frictional drag and exiting resistance to control the cutting tape movement during turn up. A compressed air passage is provided to allow for forced air removal of debris and other contaminants from the tape channel. The assembly is constructed in two configurations to accommodate different papermaking apparatus.
