Abstract: The present disclosure discloses a method and a system for transmitting DFT-s-OFDM symbols. A data sequence for transmitting as an OFDM symbol is received as input from a data source. A reference sequence for transmitting along with the data sequence as the OFDM symbol is generated and time-multiplexed with the data sequence, to generate a multiplexed sequence. Thereafter, a Discrete Fourier Transform (DFT) operation is performed on the multiplexed sequence to generate a DFT-spread-Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (DFT-s-OFDM) symbol that is further processed for transmitting over a channel. The transmission of the reference sequence and the data sequence in a single OFDM symbol provides better bandwidth utilization and flexibility in modulation of the reference sequence and the data sequence.

Abstract: A communication apparatus includes a receiver and a decoder. The receiver includes a plurality of antenna elements and, in operation, receives from a base station apparatus a modulated signal mapped to one of a plurality of subframes defined in a frame corresponding to a communicable range to which the communication apparatus belongs. The plurality of subframes are defined by time-division, frequency-division, or time-and-frequency division of the frame. A maximum number of modulated signals that can be simultaneously transmitted in a subframe from the base station apparatus varies depending on the communicable range. The decoder, in operation, decodes the received modulated signal.

Abstract: Techniques are described for carrier frequency offset (CFO) and channel estimation of orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) transmissions over multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) frequency-selective fading channels. A wireless transmitter forms blocks of symbols by inserting training symbols within two or more blocks of information-bearing symbols. The transmitter applies a hopping code to each of the blocks of symbols to insert a null subcarrier at a different position within each of the blocks of symbols, and a modulator outputs a wireless signal in accordance with the blocks of symbols. A receiver receives the wireless signal and estimates the CFO, and outputs a stream of estimated symbols based on the estimated CFO.

Abstract: According to some embodiments, a method includes selecting a length for an advanced television system committee (ATSC) 3.0 frame for transmission by a single frequency network (SFN) transmitter and aligning the SFN transmitter with a global positioning system (GPS) epoch. The method further includes storing geographical coordinates of the SFN transmitter and a corresponding SFN transmitter identification (TX ID) in a database. The method also includes encoding the SFN TX ID in a non-coherent symbol of a plurality of positioning navigation timing (PNT) symbols comprising a plurality of coherent symbols and the non-coherent symbol with orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing (OFDM) numerology to support positioning. The method further includes prepending the plurality of PNT symbols to the ATSC 3.0 frame to generate a modified ATSC 3.0 frame and transmitting the modified ATSC 3.0 using a SFN transmitter antenna of the SFN transmitter.

Abstract: Examples described herein include systems and methods which include wireless devices and systems with examples of mixing input data with coefficient data specific to a processing mode selection. For example, a computing system with processing units may mix the input data for a transmission in a radio frequency (RF) wireless domain with the coefficient data to generate output data that is representative of the transmission being processed according to a specific processing mode selection. The input data is mixed with coefficient data at layers of multiplication/accumulation processing units (MAC units). The processing mode selection may be associated with an aspect of a wireless protocol. Examples of systems and methods described herein may facilitate the processing of data for 5G wireless communications in a power-efficient and time-efficient manner.

One such apparatus may include a memory and a processor configured to identify a transmission mode for a transmission of a signal; select a tone plan for transmission of the signal within a 320 MHz total channel bandwidth or a 240 MHz total channel bandwidth, where the tone plan includes a 256 point tone plan, 512 point tone plan, 1024 point tone plane, 2048 point tone plan, 4096 point tone plan, and where the tone plan is selected based on the transmission mode; generate the signal according to the tone plan; and transmit the signal over the 320 MHz total channel bandwidth or over the 240 MHz total channel bandwidth. The selected tone plan may include one or more duplicates of an IEEE 802.11ax 80 MHz (HE80) tone plan which may include one or more null space 26 tone resource units.
