Abstract: A power system including a rectifier and an inverter. The rectifier has a plurality of phase input terminals and a plurality of rectifier output terminals that provide respective rectified outputs, rectifier circuity that rectifies the signals on the phase input terminals to generate respective rectified outputs on the rectifier output terminals, a rectifier neutral to receive a power source neutral, and capacitors connected between the rectifier neutral and the rectifier output terminals. The inverter includes a respective plurality of inverter input terminals respectively connected to the rectifier output terminals, a plurality of inverter output terminals, and an inverter neutral. The rectifier neutral and the inverter neutral are coupled by a conductor to form a same neutral.

Abstract: A method of starting a power system including an inverter having a plurality of DC feeds, wherein the DC feeds include a first DC feed and a number of additional DC feeds. The method includes connecting the first DC feed to a DC link of the inverter, synchronizing the inverter to an AC grid, and connecting the synchronized inverter to the AC grid. The method also includes, for each of the additional DC feeds, responsive to determining: (i) that a predetermined time period based on a required power ramp rate of the inverter has elapsed, and (ii) that current operating conditions of the inverter are within a safe operating area of a plurality of switching devices of the inverter, connecting the additional DC feed to the DC link.

Abstract: A multi-function power converting apparatus including an inverter circuit and a controller is provided. The inverter circuit drives a load. The controller generates a control signal according to a sampled DC voltage, a sampled AC voltage, a load current, and an output current. The controller causes the inverter circuit to enter an uninterruptible power supply mode or a grid-connected power supply mode through the control signal. Specifically, when the inverter circuit enters the grid-connected power supply mode, the multi-function power converting apparatus operates in one of a mixed real-virtual power output mode, a rectification charging mode, an active filtering mode, and an active power balancing mode.
