    摘要: The invention relates to a nuclear reactor fuel element assembly which is in the form of a bundle of parallel fuel pins extending between top and bottom end fittings in the assembly. The top and bottom end fittings are held together by a number of lifting pins which are screwed into the bottom end fitting and have spigots extending through the top end fitting and fitted with retaining nuts. A fuel pin locking member consists of a U-shaped split pin having its legs extending through transverse drillings in the retaining units and spigots of two adjacent pins. Thus the retaining nut of each pin is locked to the spigot and the locking member prevents relative rotation between the pins and hence prevents unscrewing of the pins from the bottom end fitting.

    摘要: A debris exclusion and retention device traps and retains foreign material within the lower tie plate of the fuel assembly utilizing the existing flow paths within the lower tie plate, and without redirecting coolant flow. Flow through the inlet nozzle of the lower tie plate into an enlarged lower tie plate housing creates strong jet impingement against the center of the lower tie plate grid or debris filter, if present, which has a tendency to push debris to the periphery of the lower tie plate. Low flow zones around the periphery of the lower tie plate allow debris to fall back toward the inlet nozzle. The retention device traps and retains debris in these low flow zones without impacting existing flow patterns in the lower tie plate. Thus, the retention device has minimal or no impact on lower tie plate pressure drop.

    摘要: A nuclear reactor has a core installed on a lower core plate and formed from multiple fuel assemblies, each fuel assembly including a structural cage assembly. The structural cage assembly has an upper end fitting, mid grids, and a lower end fitting (LEF). The LEF positions the fuel assembly using four locating pins located at each corner of the LEF. The pins position the fuel assembly laterally by mating with receiving holes in the lower core plate. The locating pins have a chamfered tip with a flat end. The chamfered tip allows for a greater positioning margin when installing the fuel assembly in the core by guiding the pins into holes in the lower core plate, and the flat tip provides strength and stability in case the assembly is inadvertently rested on the tip of the pin instead of the LEF pads.
