Abstract: Presented herein are techniques associated with providing an alternative network indication to a client device in a wireless local area network (WLAN) roaming federation. In one example a method is provided that may include obtaining access network information for each of a plurality of access networks that neighbor a first access network through connection of a client device with the first access network involving a first identity provider profile; determining an alternative access network with which the client device is recommended to seek connection or an alternative identity provider profiles with which the client device is recommended to connect to the first access network; and enabling the client device to initiate a connection with the alternative access network or to re-initiate a connection with the first access network utilizing the alternative identity provider profile.

Abstract: Techniques for creating consent contracts for devices that indicate whether the devices consent to receiving network-based communications from other devices. Further, the techniques include enforcing the consent contracts such that network-based communications are either allowed or disallowed in the network-communications layer prior to the network communications reaching the devices. Rather than simply allowing a device to communicate with any other device over a network, the techniques described herein include building in consent for network-based communications where the consent is consulted at one or more points in a communication process to make informed decisions about network-based traffic.

Abstract: A method is provided to compensate for differential delay among a plurality of paths between first and second nodes in a network. The method may involve measuring delay for each of the plurality of paths for a plurality of sub-flows transmitted between the first node and the second node on respective paths of the plurality of paths. The plurality of sub-flows are obtained by splitting a traffic flow. The method involves determining delay differences among the delay for each of the plurality of paths, and adjusting, based on the delay differences, a queue delay associated with a respective flow of the plurality of sub-flows on one or more of the plurality of paths to achieve a path delay that is equal to a target path delay for each of the plurality of paths.

Abstract: In one embodiment, a method includes receiving energy efficiency data from a plurality of nodes within a network. The method also includes determining an energy efficiency node quotient for each of the plurality of nodes within the network to generate a plurality of energy efficiency node quotients and determining an energy efficiency path quotient for each of a plurality of paths within the network to generate a plurality of energy efficiency path quotients. The method further includes determining one or more policies associated with the plurality of paths and selecting a path from the plurality of paths based at least on the plurality of energy efficient path quotients and the one or more policies.

Abstract: Techniques are described herein for retrieving application status data from a service provider and making a path selection based on that application status data. In some embodiments, the techniques may comprise receiving a request to access an application hosted by a service provider, generating a first data that includes an application programming interface (API) call to the application that includes at least an identifier for a tenant, determining a set of potential paths between the edge device and the application hosted by the service provider, providing the first data to the application endpoint via at least one path of the set of potential paths, receiving second data including an application status generated from metrics obtained in relation to the tenant, and selecting, based on the second data, a path of the set of potential paths to be used by the tenant to access the application.

Abstract: Techniques for extending unicast to multicast service reflection to SD-WAN overlay networks using a virtual interface (VIF) through a centralized policy are described herein. The techniques may include receiving, by a network controller of a SD-WAN, a centralized data policy for unicast to multicast service reflection, transmitting, by the network controller and to a network edge device, the centralized data policy, designating, by the network edge device, a primary replicator to act as a multicast source and replicate packets toward a last hop router (LHR), configuring, on the primary replicator, a VIF usable to translate unicast packets to multicast packets, and applying, by the primary replicator, the centralized data policy on received packets.

Abstract: Irregular absence signaling may be provided. An Access Point (AP) may receive an irregular absence report from a station. The AP may parse the irregular absence report to determine upcoming absence periods of the station for non-Peer-to-Peer (P2P) traffic. The AP may schedule Transmit Opportunity's (TxOPs) of the non-P2P traffic to the station based on the determined upcoming absence periods.

Abstract: Systems and techniques are provided for path tracing. For example, a process can include establishing a path tracing session associated with path tracing (PT) probe packets from a PT source node of an IPv6 network fabric. A PT probe packet can be received with a first IPv6 Destination Options Header with Path Tracing Option (DOH-PT) header that encodes path tracing information of the PT source node and indicates respective path tracing information for each PT midpoint node along a path from the PT source node to a PT sink node of the IPv6 network fabric. The received PT probe packet can be updated to include a second DOH-PT header that encodes path tracing information of the PT sink node. An updated PT probe packet includes the first and second DOH-PT headers and can be encapsulated with an additional IPv6 header corresponding to forwarding information of a collector node.
