Abstract: A washing machine including a drum, a driving circuit configured to apply a driving current to a motor which rotates the drum, a current sensor configured to detect the driving current, and a controller configured to perform a weight detection process and a material detection process based on a selection of a laundry course, perform a current detection process in which a value of the driving current is detected while the drum is being rotated based on a type of material of the laundry determined in the material detection process, and determine a process condition to be applied to the laundry course identified by the selection based on the value of the driving current detected in the current detection process and a value of weight of the laundry determined in the weight detection process.

Abstract: A washing machine includes a drum, a pulsator, a motor including a stator, a first rotor connected to the drum and second rotor connected to the pulsator, an inverter circuit connected to the motor, and at least one processor configured to control the inverter circuit to selectively drive the motor based on a plurality of driving modes, the plurality of driving modes including a first driving mode to rotate only the first rotor, a second driving mode to rotate only the second rotor, or a third driving mode to rotate both the first rotor and the second rotor, control the inverter circuit to stop both the first rotor and the second rotor in response to changing from one of the plurality of driving modes to an other one of the plurality of driving modes, and control the inverter circuit to drive the motor based on the changed driving mode.

Abstract: Disclosed herein is a washing machine capable of identifying whether laundry of an inner tub includes waterproof clothing. The washing machine includes a cabinet provided with an opening at an upper portion thereof, an outer tub provided in the cabinet, an inner tub provided in the outer tub, a motor configured to rotate the inner tub, a camera configured to capture an image of an inside of the inner tub, and a controller configured to control the motor to increase a rotational speed of the inner tub to a first rotational speed during spinning. The controller is configured to control the motor to set the rotational speed of the inner tub to a second rotational speed, which is less than the first rotational speed, based on the image of the inside of the inner tub captured by the camera during the spinning.
