Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for determining a subset of available paths of an interactive media program to generate for output. One example method includes receiving, at a computing device, the interactive media program, wherein the interactive media program comprises a plurality of alternative segments followed by a common segment and accessing a user profile. A subset of the plurality of alternative segments are identified, based on the user profile. A set of options for output are generated, wherein the set of options enables one of the alternative segments to be selected from the identified subset of the alternative segments. A selection of an option of the set of options is received, wherein the option is a first option and a first segment of the subset of the plurality of alternative segments is generated for output, based on the selected option.

Abstract: Systems and associated methods are described for determining popularity of new content. The system analyzes a content item to identify at least a first and a second attribute associated with the content item. The system also identifies previously posted content items associated with the first and the second attributes. The system then determines levels of user activity associated with the previously posted content item corresponding to the first attribute over a first past time period and associated with the previously posted content item corresponding to the second attribute over a second past time period. The system then extrapolates a levels of user activity for a future time period based on the first past time period and on the second past time period. The system further determines an anticipated level of user activity associated with the content item for the future time period based on the extrapolated levels of user activity.

One example method includes receiving, from a computing device, a request for content and generating an initial result set in response to the request. Based on the positivity index score, a type of additional content to add to the initial result set is determined. A modified result set is generated by adding the additional content to the initial result set. At least a portion of the modified result set is transmitted to the computing device.

For example, a media guidance application may generate a summary view of a media asset by including important content portions into the summary view based on metadata of the content portion. The media guidance application may display the summary view, and missed content in parallel at different windows of the same user equipment. The missed content and the summary view may be coordinated to be displayed in synchronization. In this way, when a user watches the summary view at a center window on the user equipment, the user may also have the option to watch the missed content displayed simultaneously on a side window to catch up on the missed content.
